Hey, I'm new here, hopefully I posted in the correct forum.
I met this girl at a University 5 a side football (soccer) society, we meet every week and we have got on really well. Normally I am a shy person, I have social anxiety, however I love football and I am good at it so at this society I become really confident because I am enjoying myself etc.

I formed a team with her, and this has only helped me impress her. As the team captain I can display my leadership skills, football skills, physical strength and other good characteristics. I literally become an alpha male when I am at this society.

I can make her laugh and smile and am playful and it has got to the point where it is going so well that if she didn't have a boyfriend I think I would have a great chance of asking her out and her saying yes.

I found out she has a boyfriend who she has been with for over a year and she sleeps in the same bed as him at Uni, and I think is getting a house with him next year so its seems as if they are settled.

I want to know what I should do. I know it is not great that I am going after a girl with a boyfriend however because I am normally a shy person yet somehow have really connected with her and become a different person at this football society I feel as if this is my best shot of getting a girlfriend in a long time.

I was thinking to just be her friend, however limit contact, so that if anything did happen and she broke up with him then she would still value me highly as a potential partner.

Any advice?
