| Post subject: | Trying to crack into a closed community |
So for the past couple of months I've decided I'd like to find a relationship, and I'd like to find one with a Jewish girl (I'm Jewish). However, my history in participating in the Jewish community is close to nil so I found myself spending more and more time in a a community with a less than ideal male/female ratio, and with a pretty low turnover rate (i.e. if you meet a girl there on any given day, it's very likely you'll see her over and over. Unlike a club, for example). So after several failed attempts to get phone numbers there, I think I've come across several conclusions: 1) Social proof is VERY critical in this environment 2) Failures may be more costly because of the relatively close community (you strike out with one girl -> her friends will know about you) 3) jDate is not ideal for this case either unless my online game is going to be A+ So I think instead of trying to game whatever girl I meet at these events, I'll need a slightly more long term and smarter plan, both in real life and online. I think I'll take a month (until end of March then) to 1) try and built a social network in both the secular and the slightly religious Jewish groups. 2) Work on my online game using match.com and okcupid. 3) Work on my fitness and looks b/c those count slightly more in online game, and it doesn't hurt in real life either. The main issue for me is that playing the numbers has always been a saving grace for me, and now that isn't an option anymore. Any thoughts? Any experience in similar situations? |
