For a newbie then the "superficial" signs are a way of identifying the girls most receptive for game till the PUA achieves a skill level where he can attract women regardless. There's a theory called "the Pareto principle" where 20% of your investment (in anything) is responsible for 80% of your gains. I look at "the signs" as a way of identifying the 20% of girls who will give me 80% of my success. A busy club can be teeming with hotties and you can't game them all so why not target the girls who are giving of the cues that they're interested in getting laid? It make sense just from a time perspective alone. Think of the signs as being "meta" IOI's being broadcast to the men in the environment as a sexual sonar waiting for a return ping. Once the ping is returned by you then the IOI transmissions become objective to you then you're into 1 on 1 game.

Side note- During my early sarging years me and my wingman realised that nearly all our successes were coming from two different venues in the nine we always visited during a night out. We started only going to these two on a course of a night and guess what.....? Our success ratio went up considerably.
