Yes, as the title says this is about cold soares. I have a date that I scheduled for tommorrow and I was thinking of canceling it because I've developed a cold soar at the worst possible time. I was planning on setting up a few dates until this happened. I honestly don't know if it's a big issue or a turn off, but I was looking to do some stuff tommorrow, and the girl seemed down over the phone, but now with this Idk what's gonna happen. Has anyone went on a date with a cold soar? If so, thoughts? |

Stay inside and camp out until it goes away. Cold sores are herpes and are very contagious. "That cold sore is hot let me look at it" said no woman ever. I also have one and am taking a break from dating for now. Online sarging is what I do to pass the time. |

Hey man thanks, I ended canceling the date and it turned out well. I've been using some cream to alleviate the soar and it seems to be healing quite well. I think I'll be up by next week, though I may wait any extra weak to prevent the spread of any "herpes". Wow, I've had cold soares since I was in sixth grade, and had no clue that they were herpes. I've had herpes but not sex. awesome *laughs* |

Common cold sores are usually caused by the HSV-1 Virus - most people (8/10 people) have contracted this virus but fear not it usually only appears when you're immune system is weakened or you feel run down. It is only infectious when you feel that tingling sensation and when it has developed into a lump. Yes cold sores are a part of the 'herpes' family but HSV-2 is the only kind which is contracted sexually - These are the ones to worry about. Source: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Cold-sore/ ... ction.aspx Even so I don't blame you for calling it off as I'd probably of done the same, just hope you had a convincing cover story so you can contact her again when you're sorted |

I know this is probably long dead, but I just thought I'd throw down some advice while I was browsing around. Cold Sores are often caused by many different factors (stress, diet, sunburn or windburn), but there is a deadset great way of treating them. First, the second you feel a "tingle" (that feeling like something conductive has been placed on your lip) and a lump is forming, get down to a chemist or doctor and ask for an anti-viral drug called Famvir (Famciclovir). You pop those three pills right away, the drug will reduce the time taken for the sore to form and heal (usually down from 10 days to 3 days). Second, buy some of those Compeed patches. They are those little clear plastic circles that you can put over a coldsore like a bandaid. They stop the chance of it spreading, as well as cover the little buggers up so they are harder to see. Thirdly, any time you have the Compeed patch off (change them every 8 hours from memory), use a Q-Tip and dab some nail polish remover (or any white spirit) on the affected area. This will help dry out the sore and promote scabbing faster. You can take preventative measures against them too. Avoid foods that are high in an amino-acid called L-Arginine as the HSV1 (coldsore) virus feeds on this. Take an L-Lysine supplement once a day to help prevent outbreaks too. Use SPF lip-balm on sunny days to prevent the sun damaging the skin on your lips (can sometimes cause an outbreak). Above all else, KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON. Stress is the biggest factor in coldsore combat. Hope this helps, brothers. |
