| Post subject: | Question about texting |
So I recently read "The Natural", and I was quite impressed with how dead-on the content is, especially after talking about it with a close friend who really is a natural. I was curious about one thing though. On the section about texting, it says that if a girl texts you something like "How's it going?" to which you can only give a boring response, Richard tells you not to text anything back, to simply ignore it. Wouldn't that be kinda rude? The girl might think you are simply ignoring her. Wouldn't that encourage a negative response from her? And if you do ignore the text, when do you contact her back? Do you finally answer to it some time in the future, or do you simply contact her on a completely different subject? In advance, thanks for the advice. -me |

Edrev, interesting question! Here's my opinion: I think once a girl ask you a question like that, you shouldn't assume you should terminate the convo. From watching Neil Strauss I noticed he never directly answers that are the thrown at him. He'll always change the subject or just continuing to talk about something interesting. So if she asks, how's it going, don't directly respond to it, go into a routine or qualify her, or bring up a DHV. Her "how's it going" You: Hey, I'm picking out a new car to buy, any suggestions? Her: How's it going" Ok, no more small talk, tell me something interesting xD WHATEVER. But I'd disagree, don't stop talking. |

I did think that would be a better approach, to change the subject but still reply eventually. In the book, he literally says "do not reply to something you can only give a boring response". I get the "how's it going" quite often, so I was intrigued. I'll definitely PM you with some things I liked about the book. I got quite a few bookmarks. Thanks dude!
