| Post subject: | Developing rapport with a younger audience |
I'm starting up at Uni again and I see what could be a huge road block that's coming up in the distance. Im alot older then my fellow class mates, 24. Because I started Uni late I'm in a alot of first and second year classes which places me around loads of 18-19 year olds. I'm also in psych which has a ridiculous guy to girl ratio. For most of the guys reading this you're probably thinking this is the ideal situation. But this won't make a lick of difference if I can't establish rapport with them. This is a generation of hipsters, dubstep, long boards, harrypotter, twilight and internet memes. Last year I was in a group of all girls for a project and they literally spoke with LOL's, ROFLS and YOLO's. I felt like I was from a different planet. What are some things I can do to relate to this younger crowd I'm in. I don't want to research teen/young adult stuff. Thats not worth my time and it seems fake if I'm not really interested in that subject matter. Any suggestions? |

Don't conform, be yourself, be the older guy. It's not like you are in your 30's man. Your only a a few years older then them. You are there to study are you not? SO STUDY. If you feel uncomfortable around younger students then just keep your relationship in class. Socialize with older students. If you're trying to seduce the younger women, then just act as you are. A lot of female uni students are there to study and tend to like more mature guys, just isolate the one you want and her demeanor should change. When they are in groups they will act the age of the group, when they are alone they will act different. Stop worrying so much about conforming and focus more on leading. |

Thanks man, thats some awesome advice. I was pretty much a follower before I got some good all around confidence. Its tough to stand out from the rest but I can see how attractive I must seem if I do. |
