Alright so I'm new at this but I just read the Mystery Method and I'm finding it pretty useful and intriguing. Anyway, Mystery's structure is very club-and-bar-oriented. Being underage, my weekends are usually spent at house parties, which have a different sort of social dynamic. As I understand it, sets in bars are more static: people show up with their friends, and mostly stay with that group. At house parties, though, the social circle is just slightly more close-knit (i.e. pretty much everyone goes to the same school, so more people know each other) and sets become more fluid as people break off and socialize with each other. Basically, since they're more familiar with the people around them, they feel more comfortable leaving their friend group. I guess what asking is how do you lock in to a set at a house party if sets split and reform so quickly? Should I abandon the idea of locking in entirely and just generally be sociable? Thanks for the help in advance! |

I kind of understand what your saying and you are for the most part right. If you go to the bar, people tend to go in groups of 3,4,5 and same with house parties. But at house parties people break off because they know a lot of other people there and have mutual friends unlike the bar. I'm also in college and have experience with parties, bars and clubs. I don't really understand your question of locking in to a set at a house party? If your worried you'll enter a set and then she'll see someone else she knows and leave or an AMOG will see her and enter, this isn't unique to house parties, it happens everywhere, roughly the same amount. The real answer is you need to hold her interest so she won't want to go see her other friend and you can disarm the AMOG. So suppose you see an HB at a house party. You: Did you come here alone Her: No I came with my friends but just had to make a phone call You: Who could you possibly have had to call at this time (good neg, and way to see if she has a boyfriend) Her: My roomate she want's to come You: (At this point you need to DHV, maybe through a story, game [If your big on MM, I'm not really a big fan of mind games and hypnosis, especially it parties, it seems corny]). If you do this correctly, you should have obtained her interest. From there you can analyze if you f-close, k-close, get her number, etc.) I'm just writing this example of the top of my head. I'm not even sure if I answered your question because I didn't really understand it. If you need more help PM me. |

I guess my question is more how to hold attention in such a fluid environment. Obviously I shouldn't be following the girl around like a lost puppy, but I find it tough to run game effectively when your interaction with her gets fractured into several short chats in the chaos of a house party. Anyway I just had a brainstorm - maybe some sort of tactic that involves opener, quick neg and DHV, then begin some sort of really intriguing story that gets broken off by your own distraction? Like draw her in, then deliberately cut off the interaction and leave her? I'm thinking this sort of takes advantage of the fluid nature of the party and puts cat theory into play. What's your take on it? |

Could work, you'd have to make sure she isn't too drunk though that she'd forget the story or you.Anyway I just had a brainstorm - maybe some sort of tactic that involves opener, quick neg and DHV, then begin some sort of really intriguing story that gets broken off by your own distraction? What's your take on it? From experience, one of the best ways to hold a girls attention is social proofing yourself at house parties. Unfortunately it's kind of hard to do unless your really popular. If a girl see's that everyone's talking to you she's immedietly going to be interested or if you approach her and as your talking people walk buy and acknowledge you and say what's up, she's going to become really interested. You don't even need to say much. As I said the hard part is becoming popular so people will want to talk to you (guys or girls). If you have a few good wingmen, you could bring this up before you leave and have them walk by you when your talking to a girl and just have them acknowledge you real quick so you seem really popular where people stop just to acknowledge you. |

Yeah, social proof is something I'm pretty short on right now haha. I transferred from another school, so I'm at a weird in-between of not being a freshman but having to deal with freshman problems like building a social circle. Generally when I show up to parties I try to engage the host as quickly as possible and put myself on their social radar, then I branch out from the host and just make friends with people. It's a slow fucking process |

Yeah that's tough. But definitely keep your socializing up and try to get people to like you. Maybe use the fact that use transferred schools to your advantage. You could probably make up some cool stories that well keep the target interested.I transferred from another school, so I'm at a weird in-between of not being a freshman but having to deal with freshman problems like building a social circle. I mean if you have her interest, why leave her, just so maybe you can build more interest? |
