Ok, so I met a girl at a club about a week and a half ago. We talked for about 5 minutes, but no lasting connection was made, and some guy stepped in and stole her away.

Fast forward to today, about an hour ago. I'm sitting at Starbucks, and in she walks.

I quite liked her, she was cute and sarcastic, so I walked up to her. I remembered her name, and said hi to her, and reminded her where we met.

She took her coffee over to my table and we talked for a bit, she seemed to laugh at what I said, but she left after a few minutes, because she said she had to go to the airport, and would be in Dublin/London for ten days. She /seemed/ to be telling the truth.

During the conversation, she steered it towards work and how she needed a guy who could program for her job. This was the (pretense?) reason we exchanged numbers. I put her number in my phone, she asked me to put mine in hers. I teased her for being bad with technology.

I didn't get to do much KINO on her after she sat down, as my laptop was in the way. Her sister called re the airport, and after a couple more minutes, she left.

I have to admit - I wasn't prepared for this interaction, and I am afraid I came off too eager. I quite liked her (she was the girl I liked most in the club that evening), and so it was something of a shock when I saw her again at Starbucks.

My worry is that our talking about work and her leaving are indicators that she wasn't interested.

What do you all think? Do you need any additional information?

How should I proceed? Should I text her today, or wait the ten days until she's back?

Should I stick with strictly business at first, or go for social/pleasure?

I hope she was telling the truth about having to leave but why are we here if not to create a "routine" of not always entirely true material....

I think you should wait till she gets back before you contact her.

The airport seemed legit. Her sister called her on the phone (it was not just a "get me out of here" call, because the sister she said wasn't ready yet) and she did seem stressed/busy, but that may just be my wishful thinking.

I feel I could have done the interaction better, but I don't think I did terribly. I'd give myself a solid C. I leaked too many details about her that I remembered, didn't do enough KINO, didn't do any shared experiences or put it in a romantic/date frame. I was just so absolutely thoroughly surprised.

Do you think I should lead with business, when I contact her when she's back? I figure casual text, about whatever subject (business or something else) in 12-14 days, giving her time to recover from her flight.

Personally I'd strongly recommend against leading with business when you first contact her when she's home. This sets a non-personal and non-romantic frame. Early impressions and interactions are very important because they're going to form her perspective of you. Therefore its important that you set a light-hearted playful frame to begin with, else she might never think of you as more than a business associate.
