Does anyone do this? I'm kinda tempted because at the minute I only go out once a week with friends straight after work and get absolutely trollied usually. They're good mates but they're not what I'd classify as the "wing" types. The problem with this is that: 1) I probably look like I've come straight from work (where I work make video games so at least I don't have to ware a suit or anything like that, but still, I've been sat in an office all day). 2) They drink, so I drink, we buy each other drinks. I find drink makes it much easier to approach but I think it's damaging my game substantially. I can get pretty loud and obnoxious when I drink I've heard, I probably come accross as a bit of a drunken idiot. It also makes thinking of conversations and maintaining coversations harder, I usually end up saying something drunken and stupid. A biggie is that it makes me less logical and analytical and more emotional about things, I take failure and rejection much harder and it can affect my whole night, and usually end up just getting depressed about my ex. 3) Another problem is that a lot of the guys I go out with I also work with, one is my boss (although he's a very cool guy and is actually one of my best mates) and subconciously I think I don't want to embarass myself infront of them since I have to see them nearly every day. It probably comes back to that evolutionary reason for fear of rejection where you're more afraid of everyone else finding out (although I know it's B.S., they'd have forgotton about it the next day). 4) They often steal sets. Like I've said, they're not wings, so we haven't discussed "rules" or anything like that. A couple of the guys are clearly physically more attractive than I am, I'm not ugly or anything like that but I'm only 5'8'' with a slender build. Nightclubs are notorious for being "it's all about the looks", men do it and women do it, they judge purely based on physical appearence because the music's loud, they're drunk, you're drunk, you don't really care about the person's interest in movies or music and whether they match yours. So when the blonde haired, blue eyed, 6'3'' dude rocks up who hits the weights most days it's pretty hard to compete. 5) One night a week isn't enough. If I haven't pulled in that one Friday night then that's it for another week, adds pressure. Wow, that post was longer than I was expecting it would be, guess I just had to get it off my chest. Anyway, what do you reckon? Should I do it, and can I do it without looking like a weirdo? |

1. Doesn't matter. 2. Don't drink as much, and thus, avoid becoming obnoxious. 3. You're worried about rejection.. not embarrassing yourself. Most guys will admire you for having the balls to approach women. They don't care if you get rejected unless they are in competition with you. 4. More or less physically attractive doesn't matter if they have no social skills, lack confidence, or are otherwise unappealing. Confidence goes a long way. You probably feel less confident around them, hence your apprehension. 5. Go out on your own.. Flirt with girls everywhere you go. You don't need to # close or F-close.. just flirt. Be confident. Talk to women every chance you get. Eventually one will escalate beyond flirting. |

I don't know about how you feel about reject but you are afraid of hurting your reputation, which is perfectly fine. Appearance goes a long way; I pulled women on appearance alone and did say shit before. So, you want to be able to go home and have stylish outfit that stands out. Peacock. Honestly, I would never drink when picking up women because you want to have your wits about you. Its so easy to do something you will regret when drunk. 1.) WHen you go out alone you don't have a wing man to protect you from other guys or girls trying to steal your target away. You're a lone wolf. You have to be aware of the people around you and you have to know how you are going to stop them from taking your girls attention. You have to use your wits. Usually in the wild lone wolfs are stronger than pack wolves, but if the go against a pack head on they lose. 2.) You will get asked who you came with? And whats your answer going to be? "Yes. I like to do my own thing." "Yes. I like to be indepedent." etc... 3.) There is a certain confidence that comes from being with a group. Strength in numbers. Its a sense of security. Going out a lone takes more self-confidence. However, it also gives you a lot more freedom. |

Interesting post. I've had the same thoughts about going out alone. The thing that makes me nervous is that the girl will probably ask me who i came with. What is the best anwer for that question? Just by saying that i'm a indepedent man sounds to typical i think? And the fact if you don't drink and just sitting in the bar and not doing a thing will make me look kinda wierd, or am i wrong? I can imagine that a made up story why you are sitting alone in a bar will work better, than just saying that you like to be alone? |

I go out alone all the time. Advantages: Nobodys holding you back. Nothing distracts you from gaming. Nobody you care about see when you fail. You can be whoever you wanna be, not who your friends expect you to be. You can go where ever you want. You are not gonna drag a lot of people around. Disadvantages: You may feel like a loser but you arent. |

Its all in how you safe it. If you say it with pride and conviction then that feeling will rub off on the girl. If you say it like its wrong then she will feel awkward about it.
