Post subject:  Anger Management

My sister who is 12 was REALLY pushing my buttons and my mom was just laughing and enjoying the show. I BLEW UP at both of them and said many mean things, whore, slut etc. I feel really ashamed of my actions and this is not the first time something like this has happened. How can I stay in control of myself when people are really pushing my buttons? Please, please, please help me guys...

Anger is a secondary emotion masking primary emotion(s) (sadness, rejection, isolation, guilt, fear etc...).

Typically its best to discuss matters before things blow up so you don't 'volcano'.


What I recommend to my clients is time-outs. You do this by telling the other person you need a time out and both of you agreeing on a time when you will re-approach things to discuss matters (if by that time you still havent cooled off than you must agree to a new time).
