Post subject:  Girl says goodbye, now what?

Been seeing this girl for about a month. She leads a busy lifestyle combining work + study. Eventually she decides to prioritize on her goals and decides to drop me. Wrote me a long e-mail (probably shows she cares?).

I want to try to salvage the situation. Really not sure how to proceed. Should I respond right away or just ignore and re-establish contact (i.e. after a few days)?

Appreciate your responses.

You cant really do anything, let her go. It is her decision and you have to respect that unfortunately.

Sorry to say this but move on.
Do you want to be in a relationship with a girl who is extremely busy???
There are things you could do to salvage things but I feel that it would just get messy and isn't worth the effort.

Late response but thanks guys for the advice. Indeed that's what I did. My pride could not have taken it any other way. Someone tells me goodbye I show them the door and boot them on the way out. lol.

In retrospect I cannot help but think that this will always happen in any relationship, and you just have to make a choice if this is the right person for you. If so, then I would probably have done more effort to try to save the relationship.

At the very least I could have asked her to talk face to face. At the very least I could have asked the simple question "are you sure about this?"

But alas, I did not. She did not mean that much to me and I knew it.

Either would have just been wasted effort.

theres nothing to salvage really. if she dumps you its over. the best thing you can do is agree with the breakup, go no contact and pray to god that she misses you and comes back begging for it again.

Why would it be wasted effort?

Because you wouldn't get back with her, you'd look needy doing it and in the end you still wouldn't be at peace with whatever she told you.
