In the emotional lull after a relationship break down do you think a quick hook up is a good idea?

There will of course be no definitive answer that applies to every person but I was interested in what the general consensus is here. In a philosophical sense I guess.

Some of my general thoughts:

Even if you correctly manage expectations is it fair on the rebound girl?
Is it just a band-aid that covers without actually healing the wound?
Is 'time' a better healer?
Is the emptiness after a break up the same thing as one-itis?

Which you should be doing anyways.

I think there is no final answer. Some people will feel the need to immediately jump back in the field. A hookup will be great for them. Others need more time to heal their wounds and will want to avoid anything with a vagina for weeks. I for one belong to the latter type. I need time to think through the breakup before I can be a functional male again. The only thing is: manage expectations correctly.

Managing expectations is important! In all situations but especially so here I think. I always do everything I can to make my intentions clear. Once you reach a certain level of proficiency with pick up I think it is very easy to get consumed by power and go on a selfish wrecking trip. Seriously I hate guys that do that, I love women and I wouldn't hurt them whenever I could avoid it. It is guys like them who give "seducers" a bad name. It is a cowards way out to deceive a woman in to bed and in to giving you her heart.
