OIOI boys!

So met this girl 1.5 years ago when I first came to uni. She lives near me and I've always known she likes me. She texts me last night saying that she can't keep hiding it from me and she confessed that she has loved me for the last year.

Note: I am not 100% sure if serious since why would she text me, maybe her friends did it???? i dunno.

Lets assume that she did mean it. I don't like her in that way and I have a gf of 2.5 years.

So my question is: how is the best way to handle this, in a mature alpha way?

I haven't texted back. Should I delete the text? My gf may see it and I just know she'd make a meal of it since I hang out with this girl every so often. Do I text back?

Thanks brahs

This is tricky dude. I've been in a similar situation and it has the potential to ruin your friendship IF you let it. You have to let her down lightly because she has put it all out on the line and obviously she is hoping that you share the same feelings.

I'm not sure what exactly you want to text her but mention that her friendship is important to you, and that you obviously are in a relationship with someone else and don't want to end it with her.

I just played it cool, didn't let it get awkward and everything worked out in the end. Plus, when my then girlfriend and I broke up 6 months later, she was still around and we had some of the best sex of my life.

It's one of those win/win situations I suppose. Best of luck mate.

Dude this is simple. If this girl means something to you, what would be the human thing to do?

You say you don't like her in that way, so just be honest with her. Say how YOU feel about her, so if that means you just want to be friends, say so. There is no need to be "alpha". You know her better than anyone else here, so you can predict best how she might react.

I'm guessing you wish to keep her as a friend, then say so.

Appreciate the input man.. BUT: this is the tricky part..

I don't know if she genuinly means this or her friends got hold of her phone and are winding me up. I know she likes me but why would she say it through text? Also if I text back being serious and sincere I become a bit of a laughing stock don't I?

You get what I'm saying? But I do agree with what you've said..

My advice would be to reply back cocky funny with "I know. Everyone does, I'm so hot I make heat melt." or something nonsensical like that. If she texts back with "I'm serious.", call her up and do what everyone else is saying about how you care about her friendship and stuff.

Yeah this is what I'm sort of thinking. Give her a cheeky text. Then if she is serious then do what the above posters have said.

Anyone else got an opinion

That one is a really cool.
i'd personally wouldn't reply and wait to meet her next time
and take her to the side talk with her like a mature man
tell that you love your GF.
and you want her to try move on if not she could as well wait for your few years.
