| Post subject: | Escalating after the opener |
On a night out I am fairly confident at approaching and can open well enough to at least have a brief conversation with a girl, rather than get brushed off straightaway. However, after the opener (opinion opener etc), the conversation invariably wanes into the standard, boring “what do you do”/“where are you from” etc. Recently for example, after I opened this girl at the bar, she gave me a kiss on the cheek (this very, very rarely happens to me straight after the opener) as we introduced ourselves and shook hands. This I’m assuming is a good sign and an IOI? If this was a good sign it should have been the perfect opportunity for me to progress and escalate the conversation. Though, unfortunately I wasn’t sure what to say after that and the conversation waned to the standard “what do you do” etc, and then very soon after that she went off to join her friends. So how do I prevent these lost opportunities occurring in the future and escalate after the opener to lead to a number or kiss close? |

A simple phrase, Oh that reminds of when. And then go into DHV story telling. After you get enough IoI's you can start to talk about her. Find out what her qualities are and reward those that you genuinely like by complimenting them. If she says she likes to travel, you can talk about where you have been, what happened to you there etc. NEVER COMPLIMENT ON HER LOOKS, COMPLIMENT ON HER PERSONALITY On a side note: I prefer to use more direct openers, something like: Please stop checking me out so obviously, or Are we gonna keep flirting from distance or actually start talking... ..or even something like:I won't have sex with you on first date, given that you got some IoI's from her before |

The normal boring small talk is perfectly fine if you can keep it exciting. I agree you shouldn't compliment her looks too often, but any "rules" like don't do this or that, ignore. There are no rules other than be confident and be yourself. |

The flirtier the opener the less likely the conversation will wane into the unnecessary conversation.. This happens to a lot of guys, just keep approaching man, you will develop this skill set with more practice. Just keep trying new things and its good to see a post based around actual pick up. Keep up the work |

"So is this where we ask the usual bar questions?" "I tell you what, what are they...Where do you come from? Do you come here a lot? What do you do? If you could be any dinosaur which dinosaur would you be?" Add some random question at the end to get a laugh. She may even add some in. Then you can say "Well, what are your answers?" And do it that way. |

Thanks all for the responses. I particular like the replies from synergyz and The Gift as they contain specifics that I will try out next time. Anyone got any other ideas/specifics of what I can actually use? I’ve been in this situation for far too long where I can approach but can never close. I need to be in a situation where I can just go approaching all night, and go all out even if that means looking like a fool and getting rejected. I need to break through that barrier. Currently I can’t do that as I’m going out with work colleagues/friends so trying it on with girls in front of them is difficult. What I need to do is go on a PUA workshop where I can actually learn from people and go all out in terms of approaching and escalating. |
