Post subject:  how to make paying not awkward?
Hi
when you go to a casual lunch with a classmate that is of the opposite sex, how do you make paying for the food not awkward?
if I pay for everything, it will make me look like an AFC who is trying to impress her
if I dont pay for her, she will think I am cheap
this is a place that requires payment before they will give you your food, its not one of those restaurants that will bring you the check after you are done.

casual lunch sounds like you're going to get a snack or a cafe. in that case just pay for yourself. :D if she says anything - but i don't think she will - say, that youre not on a date or anything like that (with a smile)

if youre at a restaraunt and you have enough money and feel like you want to pay for her, then just do it. but ask yourself, wether you want to "buy" feelings for you or just want to be generous to a friend of yours!

If its classmate and not a date why would that be awkward, its obvious that everybody pays for him/her self in these situations.

Agreed- just buy your own stuff. Let her buy her own stuff. No need to even think about it.
