What to say/do afterwards after upsetting a girl for saying something's more important than her?

Let's say you hint/tell her that your career matters more than her, and she gets upset, what should you do in this situation if you really meant it but don't want her to be upset?

if she's your girl,it's good that she know's your job is more important,but say it subtle not blantly..

if she's just a random chick,wtf do you care?

anyway,dont talk about it OR say you're sorry,act like it didnt happen and do/say something more exciting to make it un-relevent.

It might be true but it is quite final. She can either accept it or not accept it, take it or leave it. So unless you are prepared to push her into making a decision, dont say stuff like that.
