Is not having them unattractive? Many guys I have known in the past to have success with women were very sports driven. Not so much playing them, but just watching them.. You know many guys do watch sports, but not all.. I personally could never get into them like my friends.. So i'm asking, because sports are just so huge in our culture, and it is a very manly interest to haven. They have sports bars so there's a venue I can not relate too. I have tried online dating and many girls will put sports as an interest just to appeal to the guys they are going for. It just seems to be very prevalent in our culture. |

I hate sports. I despise them. To me, they're boring as hell, and I make that fact known. I used to think that I was weird and an outcast for not liking sports (particularly in my high school years), but lately it's been something I can almost use to my advantage. I'm not like every other guy out there - I have different hobbies that make me stand out from the crowd. It's a conversation piece in itself. I have had plenty of success up to this point - anyone stupid enough to look past me for not liking sports is petty and not worth my time. Use it to your advantage and it won't be a problem. And you sure as hell should not start watching them just because it's perceived as being "manly". |

It's attractive to play them, but it doesn't matter to a girl if you watch them. It may matter to a guy whether or not you're sports savvy, but no girl wants long sports talks anyway. Playing them is another story, if you're good that demonstrates commitment and gets you in good shape. |

I disagree with the poster that said not liking sports can be used as an advantage. Chicks dig athletes, period. However, it doesn't have to work against you either. I know some guys who hate sports but still get girls like it's nothing. On the flip side, I can say I've gotten laid purely because of my athletic prowess before. So it helps, but it's not a huge deal. Similar to height. Chicks dig taller guys, but there are obviously alot of shorter guys who can pick up with alot more success. It's all about how you present yourself |

I think it's like most things - it all depends on the girl and yourself. If you don't like sports, doing them just to try and pick up girls is stupid. Plenty of guys aren't into sports, and they're not all still virgins. Likewise, whilst doing sports can be attractive to women simply because SOME women find athletes attractive, for some other women, it won't matter at all. For this sort of thing, I tend to think about the shoe on the other foot. If you met a gorgeous girl who had a great personality too, would the fact that she was or wasn't into sports (or something similar; shopping maybe!) be a deal breaker for you? Probably not... |

Having cool extracurricular interests is attractive, period. Whether it be sports, or film making, or web design. They add depth to your character and make you seem more intriguing as a person. However as Slip n' slide said, most women couldn't care less whether you like to watch sport or not and talking to them about it nonstop probably wont win you any brownie points. Actually playing and participating in sport on the other hand is a different bag of beans altogether, what woman wouldn't wan to be dating an athlete? |

just having interest and hobbies (i.e. a life beyond doing nothing) is attractive, but does it have to be sports... no, you just need some sort of passion beyond sitting at home on your ass, something that you pursue success in and are passionate about, if you have an interest in sports, this will spark interest in girls that also have an interest in sports, or admire atheletes, also, being fit and good looking will get you everywhere so actually doing sports and being fit, will work hugely in your favour, almost everyone would prefer to sleep with a fit athelete then an overweight couch potatoe, and if you are really good at sports, it gives the girl something of status to brag about to her girlfriends when you come up (OMG BECKY DID YOU HEAR THAT STEFF'S NEW BOYFRIEND IS THE CAPTAIN OF HIS FOOTBALL TEAM?, LIKE OMG BECKY, I TOTALLY WANNA SMASH THAT) |

Yes doing sports can be very attractive. Watching them and yelling about teams not so much. I am not a sport fan myself but I always stay open about them. Never say you hate sports. I find the whole topic can be brushed over by saying "yeah I used to do xyz sport a lot but been taking it easy lately" Just make sure you have other positive interests and activities you do for fun and it's all good. |
