Some background:

1. I met her on a dating website
2. I've never met her in person
3. I talked to her on the phone a few times, and our conversations flow effortlessly, but I am much better at talking via the phone than in person.
4. She seems to be stressed out at the moment
5. She is probably a HB8 or 9

Thanks! I want this one to go well.

So you talked and went good. Great. And you'll push yourself into a situation where you're not that good. Great again.

The biggest thing is to go into this with no expectations. Women are pretty damn good at taking pictures, and what appears to be an HB8 is unfortunately going to more likely equate to a 5 or 6 in person. And even if she is an 8, there's always the chance that she's bat shit crazy. The fact that you perceive her as being stressed without even meeting her is an indication of that.

As for the date itself, pick somewhere casual with a lot of people like a coffee house. This takes a lot of stress off both of you. Also, if you're bad at talking in person, you might want to come up with a list of canned questions to ask to spark a conversation. Just make sure you don't turn it into an interview. Be interesting.

The main focus of the first date should be to get to know her and let her know about you - no more, no less. And remember, chivalry isn't dead.
