Hey, I'm looking to start a new interest in order to increase my social circle and ultimately meet more women. Does anyone here go to any kind of Salsa, Lindy Hop (Jazz) or street dancing classes? Or can you recommend me any other place where I can meet women? Thanks! Sticks |

Sounds like a good rule if you ask me! My class starts next Friday, will give Salsa a go depending on how this goes. Good-luck, Sticks |

Dancing class is a great way to meet new cool people. However, keep in mind that social proof will accelerate your success! Be friendly with instructors and make friends with them fast. As for London, the Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden are always full of chicks and have a variety of classes, incl. jazz and salsa. For starting salsa you can check out Bar Salsa almost every day of the week. BTW: there is no such rule that she can't deny a dance if you ask. She can and a few will (tired, talking to a friend, etc). The more dominant and smiley you are, the better your chance that she won't. |

There is actually an unspoken 'rule' about refusing to dance: if you say no when asked for a dance, you should ‘generally’ not dance with anyone until the next song.BTW: there is no such rule that she can't deny a dance if you ask. She can and a few will (tired, talking to a friend, etc). The more dominant and smiley you are, the better your chance that she won't. Obviously someone might be tired, or not want to dance for a host of valid reasons, but salseros consider it very 'uncool' when someone refuses to dance because they do not particularly like the person who is asking. Some salsa clubs refer to the same 'rule' by; "DO try and say "Yes" when asked to dance, especially if you are an experienced salsero being asked to dance by a less experienced dancer. Remember that you were once a beginner... and remember too the courage it took to ask someone to dance?! " or: " Say, "Yes!" to the first dance offer, no matter who it is, and keep on saying it. This is the most important rule! Being picky is counter-productive, so lose the attitude! If you're seen saying no, you'll be left with only the blind and the bold - a small, and not necessarily cute, minority. The point of saying yes every time is to increase your chances of meeting talented, interesting dance partners. If you do this right, good dancers will soon monopolize your time anyway. " |

Quote: Hey,
I've been dancing salsa for a year, now I had to quit because of my job, but I'm starting bachata in a few days. I'm looking to start a new interest in order to increase my social circle and ultimately meet more women. Does anyone here go to any kind of Salsa, Lindy Hop (Jazz) or street dancing classes? Or can you recommend me any other place where I can meet women? Thanks! Sticks I've hooked up with only one girl from salsa group, sarged no more than 5 or 6 girls. But salsa improved my game and life in so many ways. The first thing is you learn a new skill. It was frustrating at times, but I was going to different groups almost every night and it payed off. I've learned something new. And you internalize that learning mindset. I started training brazilian jiu jitsu, and that mindset I got from salsa really helped me. You make new friends. This is pretty obvious, but here si how it helps me nowdays. Every Saturday night there is salsa party at this club downtown and I can take friends/girls there and they'll be in my world. I was in a regular club recently and this guy is dancing to some girl. I just come and ask him if it's okay if I dance with her. Her steps back, I start to spin her, everyone is watching, she is smiling and enjoying herself, and a girl who rejected me an hour ago is standing there and eyefucking me. There are like million other advantages which I cannot think of right now, and here is one downfall. I was telling girls for a while about salsa, I thought it was a dhv. But it always came of as bragging. Please don't do this. Don't tell people how cool you are, let them see for themselves. Have good time dancing, I know you will. |
