Okay so briefly, got a girls number, we went out had dinner made her laugh etc but then I fucked it up somehow and showed too much interest. She became distant and is now abroad til late Jan when I will see her again in class. I havnt tried contacting her at all.

When I go back, I know she knows I like her... so I should freeze out?

Can someone explain how I can do this and what is the desired effect?

A traditional freeze out doesn't really apply here but I recommend one anyway. Here's why: You haven't gone very far, there's no emotional connection to keep up. By freezing her out you show that you aren't needy, and you have time to develop your skills and relationships with other women. When she returns, you can greet her warmly, ask about her trip, and it will go well. You should note that this would not necessarily be the case if you weren't guaranteed to see her again.

Freeze outs are for when a woman is a bitch to you after you two are going steady; or theres a lot of attraction on her part.
Freeze outs will NOT work if your the only one attracted, and your doing it because your mad at her.

If you fuck up and she stops texting you, what makes you think you not texting her will solve it? That just makes two people not texting eachother!

(expanding on freeze out) Freezing out is, for example a girl is texting you 3 times every 3 minutes because she likes you a lot, but your not sure if you like her; so you freeze her out to see how she acts. You wait for her to say something stupid like "please text me i love you" or "i hate you never talk to me again" then you act however you want based on what she does, and what you want.

Now pretend your on the other side, you text a woman 3 times every 3 minutes and she stops texting you because your annoying/needy, she is already ignoring your texting now and maybe already deleted your number; she is the one freezing you out according to my previous definition, so what's the average guys first thought? Thanks for your reply. Well to be honest, I didn't understand the whole concept of a freeze out which is why I asked if it was appropriate, and also asked what else I can do in this situation.

My initial thoughts were at the very least not to show any form of needyness by texting her, and for some reason I thought that was kinda what a freeze out was? But I have learned, thanks to all the replies what the true definition of the word is.

You ARE RIGHT that I really shouldnt be thinking about her, I just want to get her and wanted to know what to do next. I have been talking to other women in the meantime and getting on with my own hobbies and life. But most importantly I am here to learn and I can only thank you for your valuable input.
