Post subject:  Her sister comes on to me

Hello All,

Right... I am a happily married man with the most stunning Scandinavian wife. We currently live in the US but frequently travel overseas to visit her family and friends. My wife has 4 siblings one of which has got a soft spot for me.

The sister has never verbally expressed her feelings towards me however, she drops hints every time my wife and I visit. She’ll give me a long hug, tell me how hansom I look, touch my knee when we sit next to each other and always make sure that she is near me in social settings.

This has been going on for a couple of years now. I broke up our engagement and we were apart for a good year and a bit before we eventually got married as I realised that I’d made the biggest mistake of my life. During this year my now wife’s sister would send me emails however, I never acted upon any of her flirtation.

I would like to stress that I am very much in love with my wife and do not intend to ever respond or replicate her sister’s behaviour.

So my question is: should I speak to my wife about this? Or confront her sister? Or simply ignore the situation?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I wouldnt involve your wife. This could really backfire on you and create a lot of unnecessary family tension.

Talk to the sister via email (you want to have records of the conversation just in case ;) ). Simply tell her to stop in a polite way (if that's what you want).

Tell her you guys can still be social, but nothing else. She should understand unless she's a psychopath or something.

Be direct, be honest, and make it sound like you're a gentleman. By the way, only do it as a reply to one of her emails. This is something you don't want to start. Next time she sends you one of those emails, just address the situation and drop it like it's hot :).

My 2 cents.

there was a REALLY good thread in this forum about a similar subject (sisters hitting on you) a while back

great insight in that one

about the motives involved and the possible outcomes

anytime a "sister" wants to "fuck" you, it is to hurt/dominate/win over the sibling

Agree with above, be direct and honest. Doing it by email also leaves you evidence you asked her to cool it should your wife ever get wind of the situation.

Basario my man, thank you. I chose not to involve my wife and confronted the sister via email. She apologised, saying that she felt ashamed and promised to tone down her behaviour from now on. Hopefully she will stick to her word.
Mack - thank you for guiding me towards the thread, it was very helpful and helped me formulate the contents of the email.
If you need my advice on anything, i'm more than happy to repay the favour - I've had my fair share of experience with women and relationships.
