You can open with lots of stuff but the key here is going to be the energy level you open the set at. It's going to have to be pretty high. Personally, I would open a set next to them get them laughing and having fun, then I'd merge them. That way you establish yourself as just as social, fun, and having just as good of a time as them. Thus, you aren't "taking away" from their night you are adding to it.
