Ok, so, i currently find myself in possibly the worst situation, it is as follows: I have recently (2months ago) come out of a 2 year relationship (my choice). However, I recently met someone who I really liked but I know I have been coming on a bit strong - I think it was because I was going through the whole insecure/neediness phase after you break up with someone; too much texting, too much wanting to meet up, all that crap. Anyway, im over the insecure stage now but I think I have spooked her out big-time, which I know really isnt cool. So I find myself in a situation where: Ive been over needy, shes spooked-out and probably thinks im weird! But I would like the challenge of turning the situation around. Has anyone ever been in this situation and had a successful outcome? Its a really interesting position becuase she wont be into me now, and it will take a lot of game, or whatever, to turn the situation around so I can get her to chase me (like its suppose to be) instead of me now feeling like an idiot. Any suggestions, other than 'give-it-up', would be interesting. Peace out. |

You know the cliche quote "If you want something badly enough, eventually you'll get it"? It's the truth. If you really want to change things around, it's definitely possible, but the degree of difficulty varies based on how badly you might have scared her away. Can you give us some examples of what you may have said or done that would scare her off? |

Perfect 10 I have. I had been needy and insecure (there were alot of factors why eg my best mate died, i desserted my friends cos they were a bad influence and I just needed someone). She didnt know all of this or any of this and I just kept it to myself. I stopped chatting to the girl for six months. I didnt see her for six months. It was fuckin difficult. EVERY DAY I would kinda think about her. I had to work on myself. I did that. We have now over the past week spoken a few times, met up more in seven days than in the past six months. Its been a different vibe to before where it was just arguments brought upon by myself. I suggest do the same. Like the poster above said, if you want something badly enough fuckin go out and get it - but FIRST you have to feel worthy of it and that comes through not needy, not being clingy and being secure and self assured in yourself. |

About five months ago I went on two dates with a tall Liv Tyler lookalike. Stunning looking girl, very intelligent aswell (reads dostoyevskey, into architecture, law school student, etc etc). She was heavily into me and things went so downhill within those two dates it still hurts me to this day. I was too much of a pussy making a move - scared of pushing her away. Over the past months I've been with a couple of other girls (of whom one was at least equally goodlooking), flirted with tons of girls but she still is on rank 1. I'm now thinking about sending her a text on newyear wishing her best of luck with the upcoming year and her studies or something like that. I don't know whether it will make any difference but I won't hurt my chances either since they are zero right now. So to the threadstarter: I hear your spirit. |

This is a sticky situation. How does your ex-partner feel about this? Have you been 100% honest with him/her? In my opinion, you don't sound like you have let go of your previous relationship, but then again how could you, it has only been 2 months. You may not be over the insecure/needy phase just yet, although you THINK that you are. Find yourself before you start chasing others. You may even find that your ex-partner is the one you're missing and not necessarily the new person who you're currently interested in. I did the exact same thing a few years ago (and I should know, I'm almost 35). Broke up with my fiance, the person I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I called time on us because I could not figure out how to do my career along with being in a relationship. I fooled around for a year and realised that I'd made the biggest mistake of my life despite thinking that I "was in love" with this girl shortly after I broke up with my fiance. Turns out, she was just a rebound and a way for me to hold on to the companionship of being in a relationship - i pushed away the person who loved me the most. At the time however, I wanted to just stay away from her as I thought that the grass was greener on the other side. I wanted freedom and no attachments - I did fool around A LOT and believed that by putting my feelings on the shelf, I would move on without any trouble. I don't know whether your ex was a stunner or a 2.5? Or if this new interest is better looking? But my ex-fiance (now wife) is a knock-out and I now wish that I hadn't wasted a year of my life chasing some other girls when I always knew deep in my heart that she was the one for me. AND TRUST ME it took a lot of hard work to work my way back into my wife's heart despite the fact that she was devastated when I called it off. I now wish that I had given her the time of day to sort things out sooner instead of ignoring her pain!! HOWEVER..... timing is EVERYTHING whether it is re-kindling a relationship, breaking up, chasing girls or making friends - my advice; give the girl space if you REALLY are interested, she'll MOST definitely come back to chase you - don't text her, don't give her attention in the club, maybe flirt (innocently) with her friends to make her jealous BUT most importantly sort out your head in regards to your past-relatinship, friendships and family before you make your next move. This is my first advice on here. My friends urged me to join as they regard my advice as THE bible - A way of life, I am a US registered psychologist naturally. Do let me know if this is helpful. To P-Style; do send her a NYE message, it is the best way of letting someone know that you're thinking of them and it may start something in the new year. HOWEVER, do prepare yourself for her not replying. If she doesn't DO NOT text her again. Remember looks aren't everything - it's a lot - but not everything. Alternatively, try proping her friends about her whereabouts on a weekend and show up casually with a couple of friends, pretending you're surprised to see her. Chat to her casually, act casual and eventually you will become of interest to her again. |

I'm not expecting her to return my text. Maby she will, probably she won't. But it's like you say, I'm letting her know she's still on my mind. And for your second part: I know where she lives (which is 60 miles from where I live) but I know nothing about who her friends are and stuff. She was going for drinks at a bar when I stopped her. |

I need to work on myself and and regain some composure. Would you agree that it would be best to freeze her out? Peace out. |

So, my ex lives in a different city now and we don't speak anymore so she doesn't know. She doesn't need to. I was 100% honest with her as I simply told her that i wasn't ready for that kind of relationship. Also, her personality didn't suit mine. She was a model though, Swedish blond and an absolute stunner. But sometimes its not all about the looks i guess. The new female is also gorgeous, and she knows it. Peace out. |

No worries my man. That’s what I’m here for. From the above message to “Snarg” my advice would be to definitely take a step back. Especially if she knows that she’s a looker, I would most certainly try to regain control and let her approach you. She may do so, or she may not but women who know that they’re good looking are usually the ones wasting your time. Time waste is not on the agenda. Move fast but be sufficient and don’t rush into a relationship. Have you been waiting for her to come around or have you had fun in the mean time? I am very intrigued by this conversation, as I can identify with your situation and now that you say that your ex is of Scandinavian origin all of the above is starting to make sense. By asking a few questions I am merely attempting to gather information to give the best advice on your current situation. Analysing what went wrong, rather than ignoring it, may help you to view your current situation in a different light and help you understand your current behaviour. I mastered in psychology of the Northern hemisphere and in fact my wife is half-Swedish, half-Danish. Your ex didn’t suit your personality you say, in what way? These women are the best of the sort, yet the most complicated. Why? Because once taken out of their comfort zone (being the freedom of the snowy, sunny hills of their home country) these women become insecure, anxious, depressed and stressed. This may not be noticeable at first, but will become apparent over the duration of a relationship, when stressful situations arise. They will then lean on you for support. YET, these women have an infectious innocence about them, carry themselves with humility and respect and are incredibly intelligent. It is how you, as a man, deal with these traits of their personality that will make the difference and where I went wrong previously. As an added bonus they are sexually free-spirited and well-aware of how to please their partner. They usually do not realise how attractive they are. What led to the break-up of my engagement was the fact that I strived for freedom – in the form of independence and I assumed that by doing everything on my own I would somehow achieve this. My mistake however, was that I FORGOT about HER needs. Most men do, it is scientifically proven. She was left feeling hurt, second-best and under-valued. This behaviour makes women act needy and insecure out of NO fault of their own. We need to be MEN and make time for our partners, whilst maintaining our independence. It’s a skill. At the time however, I found my ex-fiance’s behaviour off-putting, obnoxious and simply annoying. However, reflecting back on it now, I do not blame her for her reaction. May I ask why you don’t speak? Have you seen each other after the break-up? When I broke off my engagement my ex-fiancé would sent me letters, call me, speak to my friends and try to arrange a get-together, yet I was not returning any of the favours. It was an outlet for her. A way of dealing with the raw emotions. However, I cut her off and probably caused more harm than good. I now wish that I had treated her with the respect she deserved. Live up to being a gentleman, don’t make enemies – you want to be the best that you can be by treating women to the best of our ability – that includes those in the present as well as the past. Eventually, the letters and the calls subsided and I was left to my own devices. Time apart heals all wounds and brings back emotions that we tend to put on the shelf when frustrated. For some reason, from reading the feed, I do not think that your relationship with this Swedish stunner is over. It may merely be a refreshing break for now perhaps, but Scandinavian women have seductive traits that may lure you back in when you’re ready to be confronted. I often ask my clients, why would you go for second best, when you already have/had the best? Recent studies have shown that Scandinavian women are the most sought after in the world. Is the current interest Scandinavian too? I am assuming not, due to her reaction to your text messages and behaviour. Am I right in saying that she may be younger than you? More importantly, and potentially ALL importantly, what does your friends and family think of your ex in regards to looks and personality? What is their take on the break-up? Although men tend to disregard other people’s opinions, an outlooker’s views can be all important. Feel free to ask any questions you may have on your mind. Let me know if the above at all sound familiar. |

Yikes almost an exact same situation with me made me start researching PUA. Near the beginning of the year I met this beautiful, hot, intelligent woman while out one night. The first night was drunken hot and heavyness. She made me take her phone number and she took mine. She was so excited about the night that she texted me the next day. Anyhow, on the next two dates I was back to my pussy self so I didn't escalate physically at all. All comfort/rapport building. Needless to say she got bored two dates after the first night and just started ignoring my attempts to contact her. I felt horrible that I lost her because I was really into her.Over the past months I've been with a couple of other girls (of whom one was at least equally goodlooking), flirted with tons of girls but she still is on rank 1. Quote: waiting for her to come around or have you had fun in the mean time? We have been on a few walks and talked about random stuff, its been refreshing. You should note that I'm not actually after a relationship. Im in need of my own space and time in-order to sort some deep routed things out. Your ex didn’t suit your personality you say, in what way? She was a twin and didn't provide enough independance for herself, i found this frustrating and something that could never change. Also, i felt very drained towards the end of it. Also, her sister came on to me. May I ask why you don’t speak? Have you seen each other after the break-up? We don't speak because we are not together anymore, and no, we haven't seen each other. Like i said she lives away and its easier for us both to move on this way; we will never be able to get back together. Plus, she has a gay friend who made life difficult. I often ask my clients, why would you go for second best, when you already have/had the best? Bold statement. We didn't suit each other. She wasn't the best for me, perhaps for someone else. Is the current interest Scandinavian too? No. She's English. Am I right in saying that she may be younger than you? Yes. More importantly, and potentially ALL importantly, what does your friends and family think of your ex in regards to looks and personality? Im sure they thought she was nice. Maybe thought that the personality thing didn't match. What is their take on the break-up? They think its for the best. |

Bp029 you sound defeated fellow. How long has it been since you’ve had contact? It may be worth sending her a text message to simple see how she is doing. This may re-awake her interest. Also, alcohol increases our confidence levels. If you have trouble picking up women without it, it may be worth going out on the town and remaining sober. Try approaching women in this way to test your social skills as well as your pick-up skills. Then re-evaluation and analyse what went well and what you need to work on. Perfect10 it sounds like you carry a lot of resentment towards your ex, her family and her friends. This is very common after a break up. This is even more common when they make life difficult and interfere with a relationship and 80% of the time this difficulty can tear a couple apart. However, you will need to let this go and focus on the person who you are/were in a relationship with. I am not particularly fond of my wife’s siblings either but I keep that to myself mainly because I too feel like her younger sister flirts with me inappropriately. What did you do? Do you think I should speak up? I need advice too. Sometimes personalities just don’t mix no matter how hard you try. I did not mean to imply that you’re interested in a relationship simply trying to explain that you want to move out of the rebound phase before you start thinking about finding a partner. Maybe your situation is a blessing in disguises – treat it that way. Once she comes around it may be the right time for you and something good might come out it. Your ex may not be for you at the moment, or ever again, but times may change once the raw emotions have subsided. In case they do, I was solely trying to put emphasis on the importance of maintaining a friendly relationship that may flourish in time or remain purely amicable. It could also turn into a casual relationship if you have good chemistry. Time will tell my man, like I said don’t make enemies along the way. Speaking from experience here. P-Style I respect your outlook on your situation: “My chances are zero RIGHT NOW”. This shows optimism and a determined attitude. Keep going but remain in control of the situation. |

Perfect10 just wanted to give you my opinion on the situation. I'd really take it easy and merely try to make her aware of how cool a person I am and how sound my life (lifestyle) is. if facebook is an option - I'd go for that. if not - I'd try to chat her up purely to get her opinion on sth. try and present yourself as a fascinating fella, who's into interesting stuff (let it be traveling, events, any sort of arts or charity as well). tell her you're going to Mexico for holiday and want her advice, since she's been there already. or ask her to sign a petition against whatever, animal cruelty, etc. tell her your friends are playing a gig in town and she should definitely check them out. or try talking about your relationship with another girl, so that she doesn't suspect you're after her. a couple of months back I've been organising an event in my hometown and I got a real positive response from almost everybody who's heard about it. people seem to acknowledge things you're doing in your spare time, especially if they're meant to be for at least a tiny bit noble cause. and I did feel like a rockstar when I was chatting up them female participants and some of them would go: 'yeah, I know who you are' - being all friendly and stuff |
