Post subject:  I have a "cool" job...how do I maximise my SV?

I'm a professional poker player. The last girl I was with told me that this was my secret weapon when it comes to the ladies. Thing is, I spend most of my time sitting in front of a computer playing online!

Before reading anything about PUA's etc, I used to stupidly go on about how it's not as cool as you think, how it can be really boring and stressfull and it's not as glamorous as it's made out to be on TV or whatever. All true, but still...Idiot!

Now when I'm asked I say that I play some casinos and some online (Which is true...I dont like lying at all, so I don't ever want to use lies to pick up chicks). I try and be mysterious about how much money I make from it. Also I was just thinking that I should probably focus on the guys in a set rather than the girls, because most guys think its cool.

Any tips appreciated

That's great man. I love playing and wish I could get to that level with poker. I think men and women find it interesting when you're a professional gambler. Like Mystery, the magician, Style the writer, and Ingredients the pro poker player. It's one of those things most people don't know what's involved and it automatically DHVs yourself. Don't lie but you don't have to go into all the pitfalls at first. If asked about how much money, "Just say I make enough!"

I wish I had something like that~

It's very hard and requires a lot of dedication. Unless your a natural player (Which I dont consider myself to be), it takes practice and reading, and more practice:) But it IS doable.

Playing poker is not a DHV automatically. There are many negatives associated with playing poker. It does depend on the target used towards. More conservative girls and guys would think of this in a negative way.

I would not offer this information right away.

If you do offer the information, there are many more positive adjectives to use then boring or stressful. You DLV yourself to the crowd. Be positive.

I would not say "Just say I make enough!". because it conveys information to the target or group that you do not want to present.

If you are going to say it, say it. Present a alpha frame.

I agree. In fact two girls I was talking to got kinda pissed when I told them. They were basically calling me a leach on society! Meh...most girls think it's cool. So for the one or two that take it badly, it's worth it for all the others that think its cool.

I dont really like giving figures, because it trivialises it. I prefer to leave it open and a bit more mysterious/romantic. When I use the word 'professional poker player', they instantly think of large sums of money. I dont care if they know or dont know, just leaving it open is more to my advantage

Are you sure they weren't giving you a shit test? Or dare I say, negging you back? Remember about Cooley's "Looking Glass Self" (wiki it, if you don't know) So it might be that, you are a little insecure about your job because you are beginning to think it is lame on some level.
