Hi Everybody, Just want to say thank you to everyone who replied to my last post, it’s appreciated. Now I’d like to call upon the wisdom and depth of knowledge of this great community to ask if anyone knows about attachment theory? And more specifically how to fix it. If you didn’t know, Attachment theory is concerned with the type of relationship you had with your primary care giver, for most people that’s your mother. For example did you have a secure attachment or an insecure attachment. There are different types of each. According to the theory the type of attachment you had with your primary care giver will determine the kinds of relationships you have with people as an adult. So it’s important. In fact, I wonder if there are a number of people on this forum who have difficulty with this, may this is why they’re in the game. So, the theory is fairly solid and doesn’t really have any contradictory evidence. And just so you know, I’m affected by this, so if you’ve come across it before and have some useful ideas share them with me. NiteOwl |

I think you should dive into psychology books instead of asking here. I doubt there's anyone with a Ph.D. in Psychology on this forum. I've had basic psychology in class and I learned about the Attachment theory of Bowbly so I know what it is, but I don't have enough knowledge to actually explain how to treat a negative upbringing using this theory. Also if I remember correctly only the first 3 years of someone's life is heavily affected by the attachment theory and most people in modern day society aren't neglected as an infant. So I doubt this is the reason why people are on these forums, I think it has more to do with social upbringing during your teen years (less social activity's as a teen equals less social skills, likewise; less interactions with girls during teen years equals less experience in seduction and relationships). |
