Post subject:  Sticky - Going out tomorrow night with old friends

Tomorrow night is an opening night for a new club and since Im back in my hometown for a holiday I texted some friends and invited them out with me, the thing is before I started PU I was the guy who was paying for everything (Drinks, Taxi, Door fee, Drinks in town, Taxi home, Smokes. etc) So now that Ive been studying PU Im learning to not buy or pay for anything other then myself. Now Ive tried this in the past with my friends and it didnt work out so well. What Im asking is how can I say no "politely" to my friends if they are expecting me to pay for everything if I was the one who invited them out in the first place?

I know about who wants friends like that, but that in not the case. They have been good to me and I dont want to spend money just to keep them around, how ever I am willing to move on from these particular group if they do expect me to pay for everything through out the night.

I think you answered your own question. If you're catching a cab you can easily just ask everyone, "Hey, everyone has a few bucks to help out with cab fare, right?" And if they somehow are dumb enough to say, "but you always pay," or allude to the fact that they expect it, then you'll have to remind them that you were doing them a favor (politely) and they should not have that prerequisite expectation.

It may also help to mention the cost in the invitation. "Hey, I'm going out on the town. If you've got some extra cash burning a hole in your pocket, I know some great clubs we can hit up."

If it seems that they only want you around because you're a "big spender" then you should ditch them.

Some people actually enjoy providing for their friends. I don't know what kind of money you're making and I do not care. All I know is that when I have cash, I like to be generous. I don't pay for everyone's everything all of the time, though. It's just a nice gesture on occasion. Do what makes you happy, but don't get taken advantage of. That's not fair to you.

@AZNPesuasion Thanks man I appriciate the help, the night went great it all worked out well. Went out with a different crowd and everybody helped to pay the fare for the taxi, drinks was sorted out by rounds I said I had round 3 but since I lost the paper, sicors, rock I had to buy the first round (fair play). All in All a good night.

Did see my old friends, but this time they didnt expect anything of me which was quite surprising but hey I guess other people can change too.

Just the fact that you had a different attitude about things going in probably clued everyone in on the fact that you'll not be walked all over. Glad to hear you broke the cycle. All it takes is a little change to your inner game.
