| Post subject: | Opposit of DHV? |
Hey guys, I've found myself doing this over and over: Example: I was in the gym with a friend the other day. We naturally got in a convo with two girls. They were doing their workout and we were waiting for them to finish. While they were using the machine my friend said: "Oh, your doing it wrong. Try to do it like this(...), it's more effective". Then I said: "Yeah, we are the guys that goes to the gym and says what other persons do wrong, but we dosen't work out ourself.. [looking at my friend and made an imitation] "Oh, my arm is hurting me, I don't think I can do this machine today man". They laughed (including my friend) at the obvious joke, but when I was heading home I started to wonder: Was it really a good move? I began thinking, and discovered that I do this often: Says something negative about myself, but with a touch of sarcasm so it turns to a joke. I'm really confused if this is a good or a bad thing: On the one hand I say something funny (positive) but on the other hand I'm doing the exact opposit of DHV (negative). I'm in a doubt that taking myself too unserious is shooting myself in the foot - but people seems to find it funny. Would love to hear some thoughts on it. //LA |

I think it is not really a bad thing to do this because it shows that you don't take life so seriously. It demonstrates a sense of humour. However...doing it too often can be counterproductive, because as you said, it might seem to others that you didn't even take yourself seriously and you have to work the other way, and show that you have a strong reality. So...my suggestion is that these can be really good ice breakers, and it can effect the mood of everyone in the group in a positive way, which is always good, but try to identify when it is just too much. |
