Hi, im a computer engineer that travels around the country fixing things, this means i meet loads of new people everyday, and plenty of gorgous office working ladies the problem im having is when i arrive i have no choice but to use situational openers, E.g. hi im blah here to fix blah blah computer/printer... and i find it very hard to get the customer to stop thinking of me as an engineer and see me as a guy so when i start gaming they just kinda blank me out or keep asking about the computer making it very hard to get off that subject... when im in uniform with a tool bag fixing there computer lol... any idea?????? |

Personally I've always sought to try and build rapport very quickly. Go with something to make her laugh. I'm always quite cheeky so rather than saying, "I've come to fix this computer", you could gently neg them in a funny way by asking, "So how did YOU manage to break this computer then?" Then tell them a funny story about some of the stupid things you've seen people do with their PCs like using the CD tray as a cup holder etc. These are just suggestions but it just helps break the ice and helps show your funny side. I have a friend who's a delivery driver and his game is just to go direct cos he knows he has nothing to lose. Once he's built rapport and made them laugh, his next step is just to say, "You seem like a really nice person and it's been a nice talking to you. What's your number, we should meet up for a coffee,". I've been next to him when he's done this and I've seen it work! He has a crazy success rate but essentially success does breed success though. |
