Post subject:  Met girl from class, how to proceed

Alright first post here, although I've been a long time reader. You guys on here definitely know your shit so I feel confident asking this question and getting some good advice. It seems like a simple situation, but I can't work out what I exactly should do. I kinda like this girl so I'm not thinking objectively haha. Damn testosterone.

So story goes, there was a girl in my class this past semester who I never really paid much attention to (I was in another relationship) until towards the end of the year when said relationship ended. Anyway, take it as you will, but I noticed that she was pretty cute. But whatever right? School's out and I'm probably not gonna see her until next year, if then.

Well a few nights ago, I was surprised to find her downtown at the bars with some of her friends. Now we were both pretty drunk (well I should only speak for myself but it seemed like she was too). However I approached her and started making some small talk about classes etc. I think I built the attraction reasonably well for the five or so minutes I was chatting her up, but then I excused myself and went to talk to my friends. No chance of closing anything but a number (for other reasons) and I didn't even do that for some stupid dumb shit reason.

She gave me her name though so I added her on Facebook two days later. I sent a c/f message with it, but she didn't reply to the message; just added me. So my question is, what's next? Normally, I would chat them up and get the number and boom go from there. However, she doesn't seem to go on chat. I'd really like to get her number and move this off of FB and into better territory (i.e. a date). Should I wait awhile before sending her another message and attempting to get the number and how long should I wait? What sort of things should I talk about? I was thinking asking her about what classes she's going for next semester, at least to start the conversation. Or should I be more forward? I also could wait and see if I run into her at the bars this weekend, but I like being in control as opposed to leaving things to chance. Just wanted your guys' opinions. Thanks for answering in advance!

Next time she is online just say "hi", when she replies do some small talk.

Then do this

You : Do you have a phone?
Her: Yes
You: I don't go on facebook much and there are still things to be said. What is the number?

The number is not a big deal. It is what you do with it that makes the difference.

I would send her the following message:

"I've been thinking about what you told me, and I have to admit, it makes more sense to me now."

This will instantly get her to think "Omg, wtf did I tell him?" Second, (and more importantly) it will get her to think, "Wow, this guy listens to me!"

That's a deadly combination for a woman. She has to find out. She will find out.

Bam. Now just think back to your drunken 5 min. conversation and see if you can come up with ANYTHING (no matter how trivial) that she told you that you "thought about." If it's really stupid, just follow it up with a smiley face when you answer.... "You know, when you told me about how taking Calculus IX was a mistake. :)"

I'm kidding about the last sentence about you catch my drift. Send a message that will cause intrigue and curiosity based on one and only one line, and MAKE her write back. The rest is up to you. :)

Good luck dude.

Great reply from the above post.

It works quite well, I used to sometimes open without using hi. I will just type "I cannot believe you can do that" She will immediately reply back then make up some bullshit and she will stay.

It's really good for opening those girls who never reply online.

Alright guys, contact established so good work team haha!

Well, the discussion is now about our class schedules next year. Granted, I don't want to keep this snoozefest of a convo going too long, but for right now its doing the job.

I think I can definitely get her number, but under what context should I go for it? I was thinking either:

Me: "Well you're right. You shouldn't be looking forward to taking Dr. X next semester, I heard he's a beast haha. Give me your number in case you need me for help. I'm quite intelligent when I want to be :D" since this flows with our previous convo more. Otherwise a generic:

Me: "At any rate, let's just enjoy the summer while we still have it. I'm thinking of doing Y sometime soon. Give me your number and if you're nice enough to me, maybe you can tag along :) " since this frames things into a more date-esque context as opposed to a classroom friends context.

(On a completely unrelated note, what's the PUA consensus about smilies? I feel like such a woman when I use them. I'm not sure why either, so no offense meant for anyone. I mean guys smile too right?)

Thoughts? As always, thanks in advance!

When you ask for her number don't make it seem like it's a big deal. Ask for it like you are asking for a cup of water.

One day just ask her "Do you have a phone?". She will say "yes" and once she does just say "Sometimes I come up with an idea I want to share with you and then I forget before seeing you again, just type your number in here (hand phone) so it doesn't happen again"

hahaha, Abdul, I like your last post about how to casually ask for her number. That's pretty clever. Generally though I totally agree... asking for her number should be like asking for a cup of water. If you don't act like it's a big deal, it won't be.

I'm glad to see people sharing great ideas on this site from time to time!
