Post subject:  How to Deal With Food Breath After Meal?

I just got back from lunch with a girl (accidentally bumped into each other) that I had a great time with and kiss-closed last night (had to cut it short b/c her dad pulled into the driveway and saw us).

I kissed her as we said goodbye, but she only returned it once and pulled away, seemed kind of uncomfortable. Big difference from last night, when we were making out and she was pulling me into the kiss. So I texted her asking about it, and she politely said it was because of my food breath.

Now, as a rule I always carry a mini container of altoids with me, as I really hate bad breath myself. I had washed out my mouth with water and chomped 3 or 4 mini altoids after the meal, but I guess that didn't work.

What do you guys do to cover up/get rid of bad breath after a meal? I don't want to have this issue again. I'd bring along a mini container of mouth wash or something but that would be awkward/uncomfortable to walk around with in my pocket.

I just Rock it and breath on every mother fucker, RAWR!

Ha, no :P When you are picking meals go for something which doesn't leave such a bad smell. I don't think this is such a big problem, it isn't going to happen often and if the bad breath is happening often then you need to go talk to your dentist to why this could be.

If you're going for a planned date then take chewing gums. Brush this off, I doubt it will happen again.

(Final note: Don't take her word as certain truth, maybe she was uncomfortable as her dad pulled up or because she was slightly embarrissed by her actions the night before)

Good point. Though I did have a double chicken fajita burrito with two cups of spicy salsa, so it's entirely possible my breath was pretty foul. First time I've ever gotten the dreaded "bad breath" comment from a girl cuz I'm usually so anal about it.

Still, there might be times where avoiding foods that leave you with bad breath on a date may not be possible. I want to know if there's a way to effectively deal with that while on a date.

Some foods, no not really. I will always avoid eating garlic or raw onion before a night out because regardless of how many times you clean your teeth and chew gum that isn't going to be shifting!

Mouthwash after a meal if needs be, gum/mints. But sometimes the only option is avoidance.

How do you bring mouthwash with you if you're out and about?

I don't know if it's an option for you, but sometimes a shot of vodka can solve your problem, because it kills quite some of the bacteria in your mouth. Also, vodka is one of those spirits that don't make you smell like an alcoholic.
Of course, vodka won't be your spirit of choice after fajitas; a place in my town serves a shot of sambuca after the meal, not quite sure if it solves the problem as effectively as vodka.
Taking a shot after a meal could also be a great transition to hitting the bars ;)

I just don't know what's wrong with me, I just never get these interesting experiences. Bad breath, who would have thought.

You don't. I meant more along the lines of if you eat stuff during the day then go out in the evening you can have mouthwash. But even that doesn't necessarily solve the problem with some food.
