So I'm completely new to pickup. I'm at uni and got talking to one of the girls in our rock climbing/mountaineering sport group. Climbed with her for a few hours and got her number at the end of the session. Arranged to meet up on the sunday night through texts on the friday, then called her on the sunday to finalise a time as i wasn't sure when i was finishing work. Met for a drink on the sunday, didn't kiss close or anything but she seemed up for meeting again. Now this is the first opportunity i've had to try out my new way of texting so here's a transcript: monday: me- did you rock out to haddaway - what is love when you got home!? x (came on in the bar last night, both loved the song etc.) her - haha fraid not. i got distracted by i'm a celebrity. i did listen to it earlier today in one of my breaks from doing my essays though x me - good her - no i missed it i was in the kitchen making a cup of tea x me- the losinbg team started launching fish guts at the winners, was disgusting! x her - yum. haha x me - you'd better be watching mr and mrs. smith. film 4. x her - i'm a celebrity, itv 1 x me - poor choice wednesday: me - not turning up to climbing!? tut tut x her - haha i thought i should catch up on some work i've missed me - why would you do that, climbing is paramount. would you rather... be attacked by one horse sized duck or 30 duck sized horses. go! x her - haha! one horse sized duck her - no wait, 30 duck sized horses me - explain. x her - i figured you can't really hide from a horse sized duck but duck sized horses wouldn't be able to jump very high so i could just stand on a chair or something until they went away me - haha i like that. but what if they don't go away, say they're completely unrelenting and won't stop until they spill blood. you're stuck on that chair for eternity. x her - hmmm. in that case can i change my answer back again? x me - nope. miniature horses will be the end of you. stay sharp x Now this is where i wanted to start properly escalating things... friday: me - i'm wondering if my favourite [her name] has, while at home for the weekend, gotten completely intoxicated and slept in a field with a herd of barn animals yet. her - ...what!? me - [heart symbol] me - i'd like to make a dangerous suggestion. Gotten nothing since. Where should i go from here? She gets back into town tomorrow night and i'd like to try and arrange something for monday night if possible. Cheers guys. Jesus, took like 30 mins of editing/deleting to realise that anything i posted after the heart symbol wouldn't show up... so that's why i've had to write it out... |

You waited much too long to escalate things, and when you did... WTF? Barnyard animals? Was that some kind of callback or inside joke? But whatever. You can learn from this. You should have started teasing her at some point during the climbing class. (e.g. "You're a brat, but you're cute, so I guess I'll tolerate it.") And the text game needs a lot of work. You don't want to have conversation by text, except the bare minimum. The point is to build more tension. So maybe you send a text: "Hey, it was great climbing you today. Talk to you soon!" Wait for a few minutes. And then say. "*with* you." A sly suggestion that may or may not have been an accident, but you starting to build a visual in her mind, so she sees you in a sexual context. You met her on Sun but didn't kiss-close. I hope that you at least had some kino? Please tell me you didn't spend the whole time with friendly conversation? You're way past the comfort phase. The only "tension" in this relationship is her wondering, "Is this guy ever going to make a move?" And that's not a good reason for her to stick around. Don't conceal your attraction to her; it's dishonest and unmanly. To put it bluntly, you blew it with this girl. But now you can use what you've learned to get the next one. |

All girls are attracted to those negs that insinuate bestiality. Call it a Rick Perry brain fart and move onto the next girl. If you forget about her she'll call you as all women do but hopefully you'll have found someone more intriguing. |

I hadn't even considered that the animal text could be construed as beastiality and neither did the pua i was out with last night, wonder why you saw that straight away. I'm guessing that's what brought on the "...what"?" response. More along the lines of just sleeping in a field, but whatever. I was teasing her a lot when climbing with her and there was a bit of kino on the sunday, but most of the time while we were sat down she seemed a little closed off. Legs folded (although towards me) with hands on them. Left it too long then, oh well :/ Is it possible to 'restart' at a later date? As i said i'm still very new to this and still making my way through books and threads on here. |

The short answer is no. Mostly because there are a TON of women out there with whom you have a clean slate. Building attraction after you've lost it once already is a really, really, tough job. Most likely, you'll fail, and it'll hurt your confidence more.

There are certain things to always steer away from when talking to women women. In general never discus animals and sex in the same conversation unless you're working Animal Planet into a routine. Don't worry, everyone one makes mistakes. If you didn't then you would never post on here. |
