So this girl who goes to my school added me on fb, frankly I don't remember seeing her in school but checked with friends and they confirmed for me that she does. Anyway, she changed her relationship status to single so I see an opportunity window opening, bad thing is I'm just out of a relationship (not looking for a rebound or something the relationship was just 2 weeks of length)

I've been wondering, how can I start a conversation with her? I thought of the following :

Me : Do I know you from somewhere? You added me on FB
Her : We go to the same school
Me : Odd I have never seen you around, have you seen me?
Her : (I hope she says yes because she added me) Yes I have seen you
Me : You probably liked what you've seen

give me some pros & cons fellas, I am new to the game (although I am looking for serious connections) and I quite suck at it (2 weeks was the longest relationship I maintained)

Ok, you are overthinking this.

Just say "I really like your energy, for some reason through the little I have seen by glancing through your profile. Let's just say if your personality is as good as what I can see then it is as beautiful as (insert hot and famous female celebrity). I cannot believe I haven't seen you around.

All the best

"Hey! I noticed you around in school, and never got the chance to introduce myself."

I've never had any issue with this general opener. It's not too direct, but gets the point across.

I'm a little more upfront/honest, so I follow this with a complement about looks/personality.

Where should the line be drawn with compliments? I usually compliment a lot but I fear that it was the main destroyer of my previous relationships (gives them the upper hand, moreover read that saying that they're the most beautiful in the whole world and such gives them pressure to be not enough for you)

Also, where should the line be drawn with self compliments, I usually try to compliment my self from time to time to show a spark of arrogance & confidence, but again I have bad luck in my experiences.

Try not to compliment on things that directly lead to sex eg; how smooth her legs are.

You want to give a huge compliment at the start to get the engine running and you will probably not have to do it again. A guy who compliments too much is insecure about themselves and is trying to mask his lack of confidence.

All the best

Why don't you just go direct?

It's obvious that she added you so maybe she did notice you, you can play that to your advantage.

"Hey there. I seem to remember a girl who looked exactly like you back in my school days. Is that you? "

It is stated in her profile information that she goes to the same school as I do, wouldn't it be absurd asking the obvious?

Many thanks, you basically say to compliment to get her to notice me (and no in a friend zone kind of notice) and then just compliment from time to time?

Didn't you notice the smirk at the end?

It wasn't literal. The purpose of the message is that you're messing with her, in a good way.

Oh I see, well played.

One last question before I get to work ; shouldn't I wait a while before engaging her in conversation? I mean I don't want her to think I'm hitting on her for a rebound - I am looking for a relationship... I assume a week & a half would be good am I wrong? I broke up with my ex yesterday.

So far we've exchanged likes on the relationship changes of each other, so I assume it's on a good path
