| Post subject: | A canned opener success story |
This forum always has people asking about whether the opener they thought up could work, or how they messed something up. I figured I'd do an "opener report." I'll admit, I didn't get laid that night, but last time I tried to use canned material it worked out really well. I'll go into detail to leave as little for everybody else to guess as I can. Last christmas my sisters, always tryin to improve my style, bought me a vest. I actually like it, but my friends always poke fun at me for wearing it. one of those friends was with me at a local bar a while back, so it made sense for me to use a classic: "Does this vest make me look, well Ill just say it, gay?" The gay opener is classic. I saw three girls at a table with an empty chair and just went for it. Now I will admit, I got what may have been the best possible reaction: "Well can you take it off first? We need to compare it with how you look without the vest?" You can say its a shit test, and I thought so, too, but it isn't so serious that you can't just throw a little humor out there before doing so. I settled for letting them know that I was not "that kind of guy" so nothing else would be coming off any time soon. I do not remember what they thought of the vest, but then again it isn't really important. I found out one girl had just turned 21 so they all wanted to come down that night. I'm not asking them their major, where they're from, the topics are just flying off the top of my head about what we're all wearing, the crazy homeless dude outside, etc. I know, living in a city rocks and makes conversation topics easier to find. After 5 minutes or so I flat out say I was here with a friend and yell "Hey dude, come over we may as well keep talking to them." When you are in the zone, details about what you are saying don't mean anything. My wing was so awkward and quiet that it proceeded to kill the whole moment, which sadly ended when I went for one girl's number and she threw the bf deal at me. I don't deal in bf's. Even if the girl lies I won't bother with a woman who would lie. But the point is that using a very basic opener got conversation rolling. It wasn't a quick moment and then I bounced. I suppose it helps when you focus the opener on an item that your own friends questioned because you get used to defending it. So if you want to add openers you used recently that worked, by all means go for it. Other members may then better understand WHY these work. |

I think this sums it up nicely. Kidding...Over the long term canned openers will work better than natural or spontaneous openers. Although, this assumes you will take the time to come up with and test your own openers. Actually, I did craft a few opener types based on my time spent in Pittsburgh. It is a nice, underrated city. Incredibly easy to get laid like a rock star there once you learn the ins and outs of the place. |

"I get older and the girls keep staying the same age." Matthew McConaughey as David Wooderson in Dazed & Confused. There will always be a new crop of ladies that haven't heard canned openers. The classics will always work on some girls. |

There is that word again. Some. Who wants some over most?
