| Post subject: | Open Any Set With This |
I've use this hundreds of times and works amazing. If you over hear a set talking, and they are talking about anything popular including; a movie, music, tv, a celebrity, sports, etc. Basically anything you've heard of before all you have to say is: "Hey are you guys talking about XXXXXXX" Then add some value. Last night I heard people talking about Hangover 2, and all I said was, "Hey are you guys talking about Hangover 2? My brother saw that and said it was awesome!" *it works best if you say it over your shoulder. Walking right up to a group with your body facing them comes off to confronting.* This opener does not come off as canned one bit and seems authentic every time. |

what happens if they go "Uhhhh was I talking to you?" Or give you that look like "Who the hell is this guy?" |

Well, if I would get in that situation, that she says was I talking to you I would say: "Nope u wern't, but I thought I heard something of that movie. and since my bro liked it (the example given), and I really want to see it, I decided to join your conversation." After I thought a while, and your target for example says it, you can say something to her convo partner like: "Is she always like that, merging in conversations? I mean I'm talking to you guys, and she suddenly merges in. But nyway, were you talking about hangover 2?" If they give you the look: "I know that right now ur thinking: who the f is this guy haha. But I heard you were,,, (same as first basicly, but other line in begin)" Thats what I'd do, maybe it would fail, no idea. I'm no expert yet |

That definitely makes sense. I suppose I always play the Devil's Advocate because I feel that is the best way to tighten up my game. Always expect the unexpected! |

Or give you that look like "Who the hell is this guy?" dude, why would you think that? of course it MIGHT happen but people are generally up for a chat and meeting new people. This opener is just as good as any complicated opinion opener. If you cant open with this opener, you've got a lot of work to do. |

Its not bad doing that, but don't overthink. I used to do that too. And if you mess up, you can always just leave the set haha. When I go out I always have some groups I approach who aint the social types, then they just completely block you out. Its their loss if they turn you down. They miss out on alot of fun with you! |

Dont think that Im completely socially akward just because I like to be ready for all situations. I do have alot of work to do, but not because I'm afraid of starting conversations. One must always be prepared for that bitchy response so that he or she may adapt and roll with it. Please don't act like my innocent question was an inconvenience! |

No, I just heard you had an interesting conversation so I though I'd join you with your friends. [don't pause] So did you like the movie? < - diffuse the situation.
Or give you that look like "Who the hell is this guy?" |

If they are negative, the key is not to become negative yourself. Think of it like jujitsu - you want to use their energy to make them fall over - not block or fight them. |

That's a very good analogy. I'll keep it in mind! |
