| Post subject: | Modifications to Alone Sarging Opener after Field Testing |
Alright, so apparently people seem interested in the opener I came up with when you sarge alone as its gotten a lot of views and a ton of replies. Here it is again as a refresher: Quote:
Esperanto: "Hey girls, I need your opinion on something. Its sort of bugging me."
Group: "Sure" Esperanto: "So I'm dating this girl right now. We've only been dating for a couple of weeks. I mean, everything is going well accept I just got a text message from her asking if we were boyfriend/girlfriend (say it in sort of a condescening manner). I mean, we've been dating for two weeks! Thats actually why I'm here right now, I'm trying to clear my head while figuring out how to respond." Group: "Oh my god. I mean, do you like her?" Esperanto "Who knows, its been two weeks! (devious smile)" I field tested it again last night at a coffee shop during day game. The opener worked well, but the girls loved it SO much it was difficult to transition to another topic. So Here are some thoughts to improve the opener when it is discussed: 1) I told the girls I had only been dating her for 2 weeks. I thought this would imply that we barely knew each other, but they wanted to know how many times I'd seen her in the two weeks. I wasn't prepared for this question so said six times. Apparantely, this is a bad move. To them, seeing someone 6 times in 14 days meant we should be "going steady" and that I should get over my fears and date her exclusively. Obviously, this was NOT the reaction I was going for. I pretty much lost the set at this point. Next time, I will say 3 times, and the first time was when we first met. The point is, I have to paint this girl as a clingy psycho who I can't keep dating...and they need to agree. 2) Don't say you slept with this girl. These girls asked whether I had (a good sign, as I had known them for 5 mintues) but when I said "that's none of your business sweetheart" they immediately assumed I had and considered me and her "ho-bags." It was said playfully, but this is still a thread you want to avoid. So instead, I'm going to say either no, or that we've "cuddled" or something like that. 3) Transition ASAP. Try to figure out how you will do it beforehand. I have # closed with this opener and I still think its a pretty good one as the girls wanted to talk to me and had no idea I was trying to pick them up. Let me know what you think. Lets perfect this, gentlemen. -Esperanto |

maybe if "dating" was dropped for "hanging out" or "talking" ? "dating" seems to imply dating exclusively, maybe to the female mind. at least that's what i get from. |

talking defintely doesnt imply dating... it just means seeing each other, unexclusively |

I agree!"dating" seems to imply dating exclusively, maybe to the female mind. at least that's what i get from. Esperanto, something along these lines actually happened to me. I met a chick online, we f-closed first night. Day-2 we f-closed. Day-3 and Day-4 nothing because I didnt want it too and both time I used the excuse I was catching an early flight for work and couldnt stay (both true statements). 2 days after day-4 I get a texts "Where is this headed?" Moral: You can change it to something like I described where you got a text from her last night and just havent responded because you were sure what to say. |

Examples:"So now you know my story, what are you girls doing here tonight?" "Wow, you guys were listening to my story really intently. What do you guys do that makes your lives so boring normally." Just change the topic, ask a question, there's a million possibilities. -Esperanto |
