hit her up with the classic "hey did you do the (essay/paper/book report)"..or whatever suits the class she may either give you the "what are you talking about" or "OMG there was an essay/paper/book report?" |

English class huh? Heres whats good about your situation: You have a captive audience. Its september 20 and fall semester wont be up until mid december... so you are looking at 1-3 encounters a week depending on the type of course, 3 day, 2day or night class... My point lets not go for the homerun right away... if we do and blow it then you will be seeing her for the next two months....could be awkward ICE's suggestion is nice and has a 50/50 chance of working everytime... Humans are creatures of nature... its a proven fact... not sure how long you have been in college, but im sure ever class you go to there is not a seating chart, but after the first week you will see that everyone tends to sit in the same seat all semester.... My suggestion get to class early one day and throw her off by sitting in her seat... im 90% percent sure she will be surprised to see you in her seat... she may even hesitate and look at you... BINGO you are now on her radar... if she pauses for too long say is this your seat.... if she replies yes, let her have it and sit as close to her as possible... I wouldnt even exchange names... the next class i would be like so i didnt even get your name the other day... Im "your name".... she will tell you yours and then be like cool well i gotta get to my seat since you stole mine.... From here just keep working the set... be sure to say hi and call her by name the following class... eventually work up to walking her to her next class, number exchange, party invite, sporting event invite, peer editing session... whatever the mood calls for.. give this a try and let me know how it plays out Your Friend in the field |

You're giving up territory and broadcasting to the entire room she has higher value when you're forced to give up the seat. I wouldn't risk it. |

you could use the number of shared classes to your advantage and open with You: you know, we've been in the same class 6 to 8 and we've never talked. Girl: blah You: (cut her off) i usually wait about 8 to 10 classes to talk to someone like you. (make sure it's playful) Girl: what? what do you mean and you're in. it sets up a neg or you could DHV by saying that people usually approach you. etc. |

That's good or you could use:You: you know, we've been in the same class 6 to 8 and we've never talked. Girl: blah You: (cut her off) i usually wait about 8 to 10 classes to talk to someone like you. (make sure it's playful) Girl: what? what do you mean and you're in. it sets up a neg or you could DHV by saying that people usually approach you. etc. You: Are you shy or something. Her: No/Yes/What? You: Because we've been in class for a week we've never talked. Her: blah blah You: Well I hope we can get to know each other because I'm gonna need someone to cheat off of on tests. (Make sure she knows your joking about this). Good luck |

Go straight to the cheating bit. Sit in front of her once or twice. Randomly turn around and say something like "You know... you've got to stop cheating off me. It's getting ridiculous. Here I am, the teachers pet, with my huge brain, studying my way to an A+ and you're just riding on my coattails. It's got to stop. People are going to notice." Or you can just be more forceful and accusatory: you - Hey you! (serious) her - huh? you - Knock it off already! I know you're cheating off me. (start to smile and laugh) her - what? (laughing) you - I'm keeping an eye on you. Cheating is against the honor code. her - blah you - shhh. quit talking to me in class, already. |

It's a good idea, but everybody always sits somewhere different all the time. any other type of approach I should try?[/quote] try to come in a little bit later, so she will allready be seated, then you can see if you can get some prime location near her, I suggest not behind her, but to the side upper corner, or in front to try out some of the suggested ice breakers. |

This work only if you know basic rules of drawing etc (not having talent lol) In College U usually draw some mangas, mechas or funny-difficult-"nice" and generally figures that common people cant- in a paper and put them in a place so EVER1 can see them. It causes curiosity. Someday I personally guarantee you 101% she will stop for a second to look at them closely. *BANG! Zero point! Ask her if she likes them and start a conversation of hobbies. She is on your field now. |
