Post subject:  Opening a Celebrity

Hey guys, I work at a gym in my city, and I see a lot of cute girls everyday. Today I saw Nastia Liukin (USA Olympic Gymnast) and I didn't know who see was until i searched her name on facebook and found out she was a famous gymnast. So my question is, next time i see her, how would I open her? I work at the front desk, and I scan people in as my job.

Thanks, guy i appreciate your help.

Play it off cool like you know her. She's famous, but like you said you had no idea who she was until you searched her. So, naturally if you know who she is she'll think you have some common interest. I bet she doesn't get much attention, so it will flatter her. It's a very thin line between an indirect\direct opener.

Of course you must play it off in a negging type of way because she is DHV by being slightly famous. So, perhaps start off next time she checks in with a puzzled look on your face as you read her name, then followed by a smile when you glane up at her.

I would then go into saying something like "'name'.. I know you from somewhere.. oh that's right you're a (insert something completely hypocritcal to what she does for a living)." Wait for a laugh or some gesture o that sort and be like, naw i'm just kidding, you did "such and such" right?..

Normally you wouldn't qualify her like that, but being famous you can do a little background search on her to have common ground to talk about. Since you are qualifying her by recognition, you must also disqualify her immediately and folow up with something like: "Oh, well that's cool. When I was little I was quite the gymnast in P.E class, but that didn't get me much popularity once I was out of elementary school..."

Take it from there bro, hope this helps.

Im sorry but I have to disagree with "igetit". One of the fundamental rules of PUA is that you are the exception to the rule. I think its pretty safe to say that several guys have gone up to her and recognized her saying, "OMG your that gymnast who won the gold medal in beijing!". The best thing to do is to play it off as if you dont even know who she is. Use more negs than usual, and treat her like you would any other HB9.

The best example I could give is how Papa sarged Paris Hilton in The Game. He acted totally oblivious to her celebrity. Do the exact same, and run tight game and I dont see how you wouldnt be successful.

He had no idea who she was, and neither do I.. So I doubt she gets the "OMG your that gymnast who won the gold medal in beijing!" all the time.. but maybe she does who knows.

It's a 50\50 chance that she does or doesn't get recognized often.

If you don't want to show common ground and open with knowing, you could open with a neg like "Nastia Liukin ...i know you? You're that ...(and be completely off, but oblivious to the fact she thought you were going to know). Then she'll try to DHV by telling you who she really is.. and then neg her again by saying well i guess that's why i didn't recognize you.

I disagree with the last part about negging her and saying "thats why i didnt recognize you." first, this girl is passionate about her sport, and shes working HARD to compete in an attempt to win. You need to acknowledge that, and negging her for failing is just a complete insult to her whole character.

What I recommend is to build some common ground on her passions, ie. gymnastics, maybe comment on u understand how it sucks to have to train and eat a specific way 365 days a year, and how uve been there done that, tried the six pack eating lifestyle (since u work at a gym, i assume u know how painful it is to go on a cut, and maintain it) etc. And then from there, the rest of ur awesome game kicks in. Cheers

I never said "neg her for failing". I said to neg her for what she does. She probably thinks she's hot stuff for what she does, so you need to disqualify her.

Would you go up to a HB10 model and tell her "wow you're so gorgeous i know how hard it is for you to be a model congratulations." Just because it probably is hard and she deserves some brownie points? No, that will throw you into the AFC category. You don't want to qualify your target or else you put her on a pedestal and lose your power.

Exactly. By acknowledging her celebrity you are putting her on a pedestal. You can go about gaming her in several different ways, I just believe it would be a huge no-no to acknowledge that you know who she is.

Damn, always thought she was sexy as hell. Good luck gaming her dude. I agree on not affirming the fact shes a gold medalist. Be oblivious, gives you a chance to tell a good dhv story to why you didn't watch the Olympics. Let us know how it goes.
On a side note I believe she has a BF, Evan Lysacek.
No big deal, your only competing with a figure skater

Her: No, I'm not in college. I'm a gymnast.

Me: O ok, maybe I;'ve seen you at the gym. What gym do you go to?

Her: I go to blank gym. I am a USA gold medalist (or something like that)

Me: O nice, kinda like sean johnson right? but better (then wink at her). haha..

Her: Yeah

Guys as an athlete, I can tell you that we all have insecurities beyond your imagination. It comes with pressure. I never competed with Olympics. The pressure of being on national TV and around the globe is unimaginable. One screw up and you can be the laughing stock somewhere. Most athletes do not have social lives because of the training that they go through everyday. Relating to her sport is probably the best thing you can do. Just don't act as a completely creepy stalker.

I agree with everything you said besides "Relating to her sport is probably the best thing you can do". Like yourself, I am also a competitive athlete. But from a personal stand point, talking about my sport is the last thing I want to talk about when Im gaming a girl. I imagine she talks and thinks about her sport A LOT, just like I do. Therefore, I find it refreshing when I can shoot the shit about other things. I can only assume someone like her would feel the same way. Because like you said, her sport requires lots of pressure on her. So talking to her about other stuff would be more fun for her.

Also to answer the original posters question about #-closing. Just #-close her like you would any other girl. If you've done everything properly than it shouldnt be a problem.

Really neg her, negs are for rookies... HAHAHA naw but really I only use negs, if she deserves it she comes over overly cocky... I would keep it really casual and don't tell her u know who she is... I think if u approach her with a innocent night out she will aceept your offer, because celebrities like everyone else look to have regular normal nights out...
