Me and my buddy have recently got into the game, we have a fairly bad handicap though. Both him and me are foreigners at the present country and are unable to speak the local language, thus all of our openers have to start with "Hey do you speak english?" or "Do you have a lighter? I lost mine" So I was wondering, anybody facing the same issue? Any ideas how to surpass it? thanks Cheers Jesus |

I know what you mean. I also sarge a country where people suck at English. My fail english, thats unpossible. Anyways. Speaking english is a DHV. It may intimidate people but it is a DHV. I try to not ask them if they speak english as a first sentence because it is way to easy to just say no. Better to just try it out and hey if they look like they dont understand anything, move on. At least you wouldnt have gone further with "do you speak english". I suggest that you take this situation and make the best of it. Learn non verbal game. Body language, other ways of communicating. It is difficult but you will learn extremely much when you cant just lean back on your witty talkative personality. Ezo |

Never thought of it that way, but yeah speaking english IS a display of DHV. People here are obsessed with foreigners. Yet I find it hard to just move on, I usually open my day game by having a "argument" with my freind which gives me the opportunity to engage the target in an opener, it just seems arkward to walk away after a rejection; but hell seems like that might just be something I'l learn after a while. thanks for the advice |
