| Post subject: | Connecting Indirect Openers and DHV's |
So Mystery presents a way of opening in his Venusian arts handbook I think is the best way of opening. In David D's mastery series he gives crash course on indirect openers. IN his example he goes up to a girl and asks: "What do you think of my black nails" and then after a moment interrupts them with a hilarious story about how he was on an elevator and a woman looked at his nails and asked him if he was a devil worshipper. I'm not going to detail the story for fear of copy-right infringement any further. But the basic idea of his method is can a opener connected to a funny story. Now I've heard so many I.O.'s some good some bad, but my fear of them is popularity and being called out on them. I was wondering if anyone had any good methods for developing I.O's attached to funny stories or had some they would like to share. To be specific I'm looking for help connecting original I.O.'s to funny stories. |

Hello mate, well I would think of a funny story in your life and try and think of something innocuous from it that you could use to start talking to a stranger. So, Me: "Hi, do you like roses or lillies better?" HB: blah Me: "Once, my friend bought his ex some flowers and got them sent to her work. She replied with a 9 page letter saying how the two of them were over, through, finished and never wanted to talk again! He was going to put the letter on eBay..." etc (sorry maybe not the best example, hope you can see what I mean) |

Is it okay to take funny stories from movies and warp them a bit to fit your personality and situation? As long as it isn't obvious... |
