Hey, I just started reading this site, and I feel I must start with a big THANK YOU, and pay hommage. One opener that I've been using for a while: I am a magician, and do a lot of card tricks, so after doing one or two for a group of girls, I'll pull out a sharpie and have one of the girls select a card. I give her the pen, and ask her to put her name on the face of the card. Then say, "I want to make this card very special and instantly non forgettable, so put some numbers on it...your phone number will work perfectly." Usually this will get a laugh and a look of, "is her serious", but it's never failed once. They put the number on the card, hand it back, and while they think I'm going to do a trick with it, I'll stick it in my pocket or wallet, and move on to talking about something else. Once they realize that I'm not doing an effect with the card, they all laugh. Once in a while, they will ask what I'm going to do with the card, while I'm putting it in my pocket. My line is usually, "I don't know, I'll tell you tomorrow" It works seamlessly with my opener, because I'm usually doing magic where ever I am anyway. It's cocky and funny, and original. |
