Hey guys, I went out last night for a quick sarge for the first time. I was nervous bout opening at first but once i got into it, i was opening some really quality girls with ease (probably easier on halloween, all I had to do was comment on their costumes). Confidence went threw the roof and I was getting great initial reaction from the girls. Here's my problem though. After I'd opened them with a costume related comment, that thread of conversation would only late 30 seconds or so and then I'd get stuck as to where to go next. On one or two occasions I'd notice the girl getting that "oh is he gonna keep me here for hours" look on her face. Should I put in a time constraint with my opener or should I do it after that first conversation thread finishes and then jump straight into another conversation? Any canned material would be great to start me off! Cheers! |

Get a good reaction from the opener then add the FTC and add value. e.g. I've gotta get back to my friends but you seem fun/friendly/cool etc. so i'll stay for a minute Then straight into something to get the conversation going "how do we know each other then" etc. |

First of all, respect for just going out and opening (what sounds like many) sets on your first night. You will definitely go a long way fast if you break your approach anxiety. Ok, like I have been taught I pretty much always use a FTC either before or after the opener depending on the nature of the opener. For example, if it is a fairly ‘in depth’/long opener like ‘jealous girlfriend’ use a FTC before so they know your not going to out stay your welcome. Shorter openers on the other hand don’t need a FTC at the start but, in my opinion, you should nearly always use a FTC before the next conversation begins. Try and remember body language. This is so important. My recommendation is to read up on it now if you have not done already.
