Harder to approach because of my hard-to-say name!!

Post subject:  Harder to approach because of my hard-to-say name!!
Okay so I got a greek name which is quite hard for most non-greek people to understand and pronounce, especially in a club.

So, usually it takes me so much time to tell them my name and I have to repeat it so much that it gets really... just... not cool.

Any suggestions?

(other than shortcuts of the name!)

I find it very attractive when a women makes me pronounce her name properly. I feel trained. It takes confidence to make people speak your name right. You actually have the best opener in the world. Just make it a lesson in how to pronounce your name and use metephors to make it easy to remember.

My friend is from venezsuela and her name is Lauu. I couldn't pronounce it so she said it is just like that sound LOUAAADER from the black eyed peas. Be creative and don't make excuses.

Create a nick name for your self while the girl learns your name in the mean time. :wink:

well man you have a great way of dhviing right there if they ask your name just say it then go but my girlfriends call me .........

If your name really is that hard to pronounce you need a nickname or use your surname or whichever part of your name is easiest to pronounce

i would suggest just don't introduce yourself in a club. if your in a quiet place then using your name as an opener might actually be a really good idea, making a lesson out of it like magnum said is a great idea.

But if you're in a club and she asks your name, just either think of a simple nickname or say "i'll tell you later!" that way if she asks again then thats another IOI

I have a pretty complicated name too, though u can always use it on ur advantage.
Tease them cuz they cant say it right, keem em guessing on how to spell/pronounce it, make some cute greek names for them. U got so much in hand u dont even realize.
And if u really really hate ur name jst go with a line like: 'Im XYZ, but u can call me James' smirk at the end. (If she asks y james, tease her about bond, etc) If u do it properly is a killer.

You say "other than shortcuts of the name" why not make up a cool nick name for yourself?
Use that until day 2 or if you get real comfortbale with it you can use it all the time.
It could be something simple as a guy named William calling himself Bill, to making up some funny nick name like Style, Juggler and Gambler did.

Hell, you can even use DJ, say its an abbreviation and you will tell her your real name later, and when you do you can just say that since you DJ everyone who requests songs started calling you DJ and it just stuck with you.

You could possibly make this into some sort of game. Say your name then get them to say it properly. Bust on them if they can't do it.If it is really really awkward just use an easier shortened version or nicknmae
