| Post subject: | Best dance style? |
Hi, I need to learn to dance and am thinking of taking some lessons. I've never done any formal dance training before, but think I will probably be ok at it. However, I'm not sure of the best style to go for? Alot of people i know do salsa, however will this work well in a non-latin club? (most the clubs i go to tend to play commercial hip-hop, rock, pop). Or is it a case of just learning the basics of any dance style and applying this to the club you are in? Thanks |

Salsa is usually the best one however the classes i know (In the UK) usually require or at least prefer you to bring a partner as it's two person dance Not sure where you're from but here in the UK as long as you can do some basic dance steps (of no particular style) and look like you're having fun and not looking up every girl you're onto a good start*. *From my experience in my area/haunts |

for non-latin clubs you want to get basic hip-hop moves down. The truth is most girls have no idea what they are doing on the dancefloor. So all you have to do is get a couple of basic hip-hop moves down and you're golden. Youtube is more than good enough for this. On the other hand, though you may not go to latin clubs, it would hurt to start. Learning salsa would be more of a lifestyle/hobby you add to make you seem more interesting to women. If you could learn salsa/tango/etc. you could always teach/invite girls to the club and they would be all over you the whole night. It's the same idea as picking up an instrument. |

I'm a master at this dance style: grinding. That's what I know and what I love. "Back that ass up." |

go to metal shows and learn how to hardcore dance and 2 step! it's definitely not a 2 person dance and sometimes looks lame but it's fun because you get into the moment with the music blaring and everyone else around you doing it. it looks kind of like karate but cooler. chicks at concerts love guys who are good at hardcore dancing and they're not hard to talk to at all because they're so laid back compared to preppy or sporty girls. be warned though a lot of them might be younger then they look but pretty much every venue have bars in them. if you want a 2 person dance i'd say take swing dance lessons. it's fun and not hard to pick up at all and a lot of girls know how to. |

Salsa is going to give you the best bang for your buck. The moves learned in a salsa dancing can be applied to a wide range of music. |

Just keep it simple, if you do anything too extravagant you might scare them away because they won't be able to 'match you' and will feel embarassed next to you. Some fundamentals i use are: -I keep my knees always slightly bent so as not to appear stiff in my movements. -Mostly I just keep small simple hand movements and occasionally clap my hands together or raise them above my head. -occasionally I put my hand in for the twirl or if you've had some IOI's I put my hand on her hip and grind down on her -to keep the mood light I'll occasionally reverse the roles (make her twirl me) most girls think this is funny. -I always try to NEVER concentrate to hard on dancing well, it makes your trying to hard to impress her. |
