Now this just came to me and i wanted to see what the experts think.. it goes like this: Me: hey guys let me get your opinion on something, now I cant stay long I got to get back to my friends…ok well my friend is going to break up with his girlfriend and he was stressing on how he should do it… now as a joke I said “hey how bout u buy her a present and give it to her after u break up with her”… now I only said it to cheer him up because he was pretty sad all day about his situation cause, well, nobody likes to break someone’s heart… Anyway, it got me thinking would you think that is a good way to break up with someone? Girls: NO!! Me: Now wait a minute think about it, he could break up with her and she’ll be sad, then give her the present then she’ll back to feeling normal, OR he could give her the present and she’ll be happy then he’ll break up with her and she be back to feeling normal. And in the end of all that, she’ll have a nice little present, and he’ll be all happy because he successfully broke up with someone without having to make her cry. now from here i can transition it to "who lies more?" then "who's better at lying?" then 5-lies game gimme some feedback pleaseeee |

umm... I think that may get mixed reactions. if you got a present and you were on a high - then yuo got broken up with, the present would seem of second importance. Or they were broken up with , then the present - same effect. and since they were flying high, the more they would fall... unless they're stupid and emotionless then they won't catch this - which I suppose isn't all bad... if they freak out and get shocked by this then you can work with their energy. say your friend thought about doing this, and you had mixed feelings about it so you decided to get another view - from a girl. if you go this route, then you could transition into asking about how they would've liked a relationship to go, and how they'd avoid being dumped - which could lead to all sorts of fun. but if you want them to freak out and they do - then I guess they would freak out at your friend, I say, "I know! it's crazy!! It kind of makes sense, but it's still really mean." And then transition into a relationship thing. |

i live in austin and i regularly sarge at many of the clubs and bars they went to in the first season of TPA. ive noticed that any time i open a set by using, "Hey i need to get your opinion on something," i reduce myself to a 50% success rate right off the bat. last weekend i even had a girl ask me if i was from the TV show, before i even asked my opinion-question. my friend had it happen to him 2 weeks before that as well. it might be different where you live, but i wouldnt use the opinion-opener so bluntly. its good for a follow up after you open, b/c the bitch-shield is down and they're no longer looking for a reason to shut you down. i'm even rewording the FTC, it seems like too many girls roll their eyes or understand what im doing if i say, "I have to meet up with my friends in a minute, but..." now i use real FTCs, after the opener. i'll ask them a question (without asking them if i can get their opinion) and after we talk about whatever it was, i'll mention that im about to head over to ______ to meet someone. this seems to work better and is more believable. the canned openers and word-for-word FTCs you see on the Pickup Artist aren't going to work at all as the community expands. you'll eventually need to evolve your game beyond these phrases, but if you're using them as a beginner just to get over the AA, its alright. just dont be surprised if you get called out. the opinion you pose isn't one that i would use myself, but if i had to reword it i would simply approach over-the-shoulder and ask, "Do you think its ok to give a girl a present right before you break up with her?" then however she responds you can go into more detail about it being your friend, and he wants to let the girl down easy, etc. |

yeah i actually like yours alot more... and i can still explain the whole reason to my question...it's definitely workable. seriously though, the first few times i went sarging i used the exact same first two sentences you listed in your opener, i would avoid them and go straight to the question, with any opinion-based opener. good luck! |
