Post subject:  Unusual opening
so my sister tried to hook me up with this girl I used to know in high school. She thought she was helping me, but just made the situation worse. I told her to invite the chick out with her so we can all go out together. But my sister tells the girl that I am interested in her and that she should open me first because I am kinda shy :roll: . My sister shot me in the foot with this one!!
So now I am kinda in a limbo... but I really would like to go out on a date with this chick. The only problem is that I don't ever see her. My sister has her phone number and they are somewhat friends.
I was thinking about taking her number from my sister and text her with some cocky funny lines and eventually ask her out..
What do you guys think?... I know most of you would probably say this is creepy, but I think I will do it anyways just to see what happens.

i'd straight up call the girl, show her that you're not shy. ask her out on a date and be confident as shit the whole time. this could work to your advantage because she's expecting some shy kid that's not gonna talk. show her you're a bad ass. things are always better when you have low expectations, so your sister might have helped you out, depending on how you handle the situation.

If you over think this you might think that acting shy would work out for you.

I think that if you take the number call her and just be confident and funny it will work a lot better.

She has an image of you already, take it and blow it out the water. I am sure that she will think better of someone who is fun and entertaining, rather than a "dating tumor".

Before you call I think that you should possibly think of some possible reply s of what your sister might have set you up for; if that is what you are worried about.

I would also say that you should make in your mind that you need to talk to this chick like you 2 have already known each other. Like you were already friends. I think this will eliminate the awkwardness of you trying to make a "date" and open options up for when you meet. I would aim casual here.

I believe that would be a good plan of attack.

Just gonna echo what the other guys have said, just blow that preconception that she has of you outta the water and you'll come across better than if you did the same thing and she DIDNT have that preconception.
Also I want to add this, don't "ask her out". Instead invite her to join you in an activity you are already planning on doing (even if you actually arent yet) so just say something like "hey i'm going to blah blah blah in a few days, you should tag along". Remember it should be a privilage for her to get to come along with you, not your privilage that she agrees.

I wanted to call her, but I found out she was working so I texted her. Here is the text convo:

ME: Hey you banker chick
HB9: Hey Who's this?
ME: It's _____. I know it's kinda weird, but I stole your number from my sister. :) anyways, how have you been?
HB9: Hah Im good studying for the finals this wk. How r u? Where have u been havent seen u in forever.
ME: ...Ive been around. I think you're hiding, that's why you don't see me. ;)
HB9: Hah, really? Maybe you're hiding
ME: :) I don't think so...but what are you doing this weekend? You should come get something sweet with me!!
HB9: Sweet?
ME: Yea sweet as in ice cream, dougnuts etc. I know this really good place. You should come!!
HB9: Yea that's cool..
ME: K... I think I'll be busy Saturday, but Friday around 7ish should work. I'll call you then!
HB9: K


It seems a little too easy... maybe because it was!! Anyways, I planned to go grab some ice cream... and then stop by a friend's (chick) house who is having a party. Probably stay there for 30 mins and then I will take her to a nice nightview spot along with sleeping bags for cuddling up.

Any advice is welcomed!!
