I play noughts and crosses with them. If it works, well and good. If not, so what? Haven't tried other approaches though. |

I have found that something situational can get people talking. For example, " Do you ever notice how people never talk on buses?" or something in that arena, if done with the right tone, it can create a laugh. |

if your relatively new to college then this is easy. not direct - but you can just siimply say - what course are you doing? i heard the dog grooming one isnt on anymore. |

Just an opener and then you'll probably want to find something in common and get them talking about themselves it builds a connection fast.. if you think they are getting to carried away with themselves say something along the lines of "Whoa hold up prom queen" It will show you have a sense of humor as well. |
