Approaching moving targets

Moving targets are targets that are walking/in motion. Objects in motion tend to stay in motion. If you are to approach them here is the method I use. Its a tweaked version of Mysterys moving set approach.

Now you don’t want to stop her head on . Why?

To open a set that is walking towards you (in effect past you) as you walk the other way, think of it like a head on collision. Now because of the opposite motions you don’t have a chance to go into an opener, the time she spends in your area of conversation is too short ( the same way two cars going in opposite directions are never near each other for a long time). So in order to get the attention you would have to say something like 'excuse me.' Now you should never say that, now you have no value and you have to recover from that. Also walking straight to her is confrontational, although possibly not on a conscious level. With this general approach she is going to feel threatened and freaked out. Yeh you can recover from this but why would you put yourself in a situation where you have to?

So what should you do, start off by walking along side them but slightly ahead of them, you do not want to be behind them as no one likes to be followed. Talk over your shoulder. Do not turn your entire top half to face her t or keep looking over your shoulder to her. Both of which would lower your value, and possibly leave you walking into a lamp post. Walking into a lamp post is yet to get me any form of close, but hey that’s a method for another day.

Right now during your open throw in the occasional gesture of the stop signal with your hand, if your game is indirect then aim it not directly to them but more off to the side of them. However if you do follow more direct game feel free to just flat out hit them with the stop sign. Then again if you use direct game you wouldn’t use this method at all. Any who this acts as a little unconscious aid to get them to stop as you don’t want to walk with them for too long. I added this tweak in after many a test

At this point there is an optional compliance test I run if the target doesn’t seem to be engaged. Speed up a little or walk slightly at an angle, look to see if they match your pace/angle or they actually take the opposite, jump into a car, and speed off into the distance. (Someone is bound to take me seriously on the car bit, so a note that if you are a little confused ignore the bit about jumping into a car)

If she starts to walk away though , let her and continue talking. If you follow her she will be freaked out. If you just carry on talking she feels as if she is missing out on something. Well as long as you are using an opener or saying something interesting  :)

Now you have a non moving set/target, so carry on as you would normally.

Hope this helps people out as it was something i struggled with in early days. Damn those HBs with their constant moving. I use loads of different approaches now and don't really have to think about it as much. This is however a method that people can use to get used to an indirect method of working moving sets.

You obviously have little time to hook a moving set.

For that reason I believe being more direct is going to be a good option. An observational opener should stop many girls.

"Great shoes/bag/hair/style/taste"

If walking towards each other, you can throw this out as you pass, look back to see if she responds, and then turn to approach. This prevents being head on and stopping her, so you can take up a more natural position in order to converse.

In terms of what you're saying, it almost needs to be more direct to be congruent and achieve what you're looking for. If you want to be less direct, you will likely stationary, and should be able to root the question coming. Step in from the side, take her arm and begin your question as you lead her away from her path slightly and into conversation with you.

I think you have missed the point here. This method increases that time you have to hook the set, by giving you more time with them and eventually stopping them. I stated it wasn't a method that was direct game, which looks to stop them quickly, but an indirect method for approaching moving sets.

EDIT: to answer ezoghul's question
Its a tweaked version of Mysterys moving set approach. Said near the top of the original post. Its been tweaked towards more turning into a stationary set while his method continues further on the move. I don't really use this method anymore but it benefited me when I needed longer to hook the set. So i hope some of the newer members of the community will benefit from it like I did back in the day.
