So theres this chick at work whose been around for a good couple of years who ive pretty much never said more than two words to. she's maybe a hb6, but i find her really cute. trouble is, the whole time she's worked there she's acted really shy around me, like would rarely ever make eye contact with me, so much so that I felt she was just rude, or even afraid of me. However, we have been facebook friends for a while, and she has 'liked' a couple of my posts, and even added me when she changed her account. (I mention this coz i thought if she didnt like me at all, she wouldnt do this). Anyway, thanks to the help ive had and read from you guys on here (thankyou) i finally decided enough is enough, i'll speak to her. Well I noticed whenever she walked past she smelt awesome, like a nice vanilla based perfume/spray. So basically her back was to me while she was sorting some boxes. I just said 'hey is it you that smells amazing?'. Now just as i said it, she paused. maybe for like 2 seconds but it was noticeable. she then turned to me, smiled and then she spoke to me, for maybe about 15-20 seconds before she carried on with what she was doing and I went on my way. How should i interpret that pause she did? Was she startled by me? tho she didnt seem offended or unhappy that i spoke to her. Thoughts? |

I would say she is surprised you noticed after so long. ..She put you into the friend zone and now isn't sure what to think. Be bold if you can... not aggressive, but escalate. See what she will tolerate, or allow after after opening her again. Does she show signs of interest? Anything indicating... If she shuts you down, you might be in the friends zone and you need to up your game to move forward. If not, then she think your are nobody. You got to make a change to get her interest. |

Friendzone? How can I be friendzoned when I've barely spoken to the girl? Maybe I explained the relationship wrong. On the whole she's a girl at work who I don't really know. I work in a supermarket so it's not uncommon for people to never interact. I added her on Facebook ages ago under the guise that I add everyone I work with (babes lol). Also I don't know if this is relavant but apparently she has very low self esteem. She used to be quite big and then had an eating disorder and lost a load of weight. So I think that's why she's shy. |

You're not friendzoned. That'd be something... Friendzoned after 5 words? I really think you're thinking about this too much. You're overanalyzing a single interaction which resulted in 15 seconds of conversation? Get out of your own head, man. You want to date her? Ask her out. Assume you're the shit. Talk to her... then close the deal. Build a bit of interest first (that means you're prob going to need to say more than 5 words to her)... Anything you two have in common? Any inside jokes? Send a random email about the creepy delivery guy or something. Once you've actually established she may actually be interested, then just suggest a coffee together at lunch - but don't make it sound like a date... something like: "Going to grab a coffee at lunch. Would you like to come with?" |

That inner game. Work on it, man!Other than that, you seem to be overthinking a lot. That pause doen't mean anything! Maybe she had just farted, and was like "oh shit oh shit oh shit please tell me it's not a smelly one" and needed to check before turning around! It's no big deal! Least you guys are on a cordial basis with each other now. Now that you are chatting buddies, continue talking and escalating in the next bunch of days and post how it went! |
