Post subject:  Male dominated sets
Approaching male dominated mixed sets? I am sarging with a buddy of mine, we are in a college town and I swear every set we see is utterly engaged in conversation and totally male dominated. On to my question: How can we approach and open totally male dominated sets?

One of my favorite approach openers for sets with guys in them is..."Oh my God, where did you get that shirt man? I ask because I had one just like it and I lent it to my last girlfriend and she ran off with it. Its like I have to buy two of everything...:lol: You know what I mean." Flat ignore the others in the set besides the guys. Open then and say things interesting to them. Sports, Cars, Alchohol, anything besides women talk. Disqualify yourself as a suitor, just be one of the boys. Then I quickly go to "So how does everyone know each other?" I need to know if the girl is a potential target or someone's girlfriend. From there decide if its worth it, and enjoy the opener.

I like jsmooth's approach. I do something different that hasn't failed me yet (field tested 100s of times): "Hey, did you see the end of that Warriors/Lakers/Spurs/Niners/Bruins game?" and go from there. Someone in the group saw it or knows about it and just goooo from there. Definitely don't wait too long to do "how does everybody know each other" so as to not ignore the rest of the group. If sports aren't your thing, slap yourself, and then try commenting on the environment: "Man, this place is a regular sausage fest. Did you get the same invitation to this party?"; "did you put that song on the jukebox?" (you can do a lot with this one), etc.

I find that dudes aren't a problem to chat up. The problem becomes when the women they are with are their girlfriends, or chicks they are working at which point they will try to cockblock like crazy. Stick to your guns = you are just a friendly, fun, outgoing guy starting the conversation.
