Post subject:  Easy Bar Magic Tricks

We all know that Mystery was an incredible illusionist. He used this at first to overcome his fear of approach anxiety, and later used it to DHV in his sets. None of us are as good as Mystery or David Blaine, but I'm posting 2 of my favorite easy bar tricks, in hopes that you will post your own.

1. Mind Reading Number
This one is easy to set up in the bathroom of a bar. Get the thickest pencil lead you can, either from a regular pencil, or buying the thickest mechanical pencil lead you can get. Hold a small notepad in your hand with your 4 fingers on the back, and thumb gripping the front. The part of your thumb that is touching the pad is where you want to put the lead. Put a small spot of Super Glue (I recommend Gorilla Glue) on this part of your thumb, then stick a piece of lead on top. Once you're ready, you can open a set, or go back to the one you were currently in. Take your time, because they will more than likely not notice a tiny spec of lead on your thumb. When the time is right, show them a mind reading trick. If you are right handed (The lead should be on your left thumb, and the pad of paper in your left hand).

Tell the target that you can write a number on this pad of paper, and then through eye contact, you can force her to say that exact number. Holding the pad so she can't see it, pretend to write a number, and put the pencil down on the table when you're done. Then, ask the target to think of a number between 1-100. Tell her to say the number out loud 3 times slowly as you look her in the eyes. While she does this, keep the hand that you write with moving to distract her from your left hand, and away from the pad of paper. Secretly, you are writing the number on the pad of paper with the thumb that has lead stuck to it. You can then show her the "prediction" on the pad of paper, with any cheesy line you want.

2. Bent Coin
This trick is much simpler
First, you must bend a coin (I prefer a Quarter) in a vice grip or with pliers. Bend it enough that its visible, but not ridiculously bent. Keep this with the stuff you sarge with. In a bar scene, you can ask the bartender or waitress for change for a dollar. She brings you 4 fresh quarters. You get your target to examine one of the quarters to certify its genuine. You then detail stories about how peoples minds give them incredible strength they didn't know they had. (I like to describe stories of how a mother is able to lift a car off of a threatened child to save its life...shit like that). Have the target place her hand out with palm up, and show her the regular quarter. Then, with sleight of hand, place the bent quarter in her palm and immediately close her fist with yours so she doesn't see it. If the quarter is not bent too much, she won't feel the difference. Then, holding her hand shut, tell her to picture the coin bending, and tell her to squeeze it as hard as she can. Then, you may present it however you want. You have her open her hand, and the quarter is bent in her own palm! (This works best if the bent quarter is placed in her palm with the middle touching, and 2 ends point up, rather than down. Her palm does the same thing, so having the quarter bend to the same shape feels like its natural and straight.)

We all know that openers can be anything, but this is more of a DHV. Especially because it works over the guys in the group as well. I dare some of you to at least try these in a social setting.

If any of you have any similar bar tricks, or want to share your story on a clever trick you used...Lets hear it!!

Get it boys

Not bad - I actually think I might get anxiety trying to do a magic trick more than just straight hitting on her. Might be something to try.
